Non-Fender headstocks that don't look goofy?

For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

Non-Fender headstocks that don't look goofy?

I didn't want to hi-jack the Surfmaster thread, so I started a new one.  I've always noticed that Fender copies always have goofy looking headstocks.  As an artist, I've wondered if I'd be able to design a headstock that doesn't look stupid and it's not easy.  Have those original designs* just become such icons that anything else just doesn't look right?
Does anyone have pics of non-Fender headstocks on Fender copies that they think look cool?

*(I know Fender stole their design from Bigsby, let's not get into that now...)
One more guitar, then I'll practice!

I think the Teisco 4+2 is fenomenal, nothing to compare with the musicman 4+2 ,that it's just horrible..I like also teh microfrets styleImage

I can tolerate most headstocks including the Turser Foot- stock.
But I am sorry to say that I absolutely hate the hockey stick head stock.
There were a bunch of very hot guitars (mostly Jacksons) in the 80's that were screamers but the hockey stick just made them look stupid, IMHO. :k

I got a cheap Jackson for 15 bucks at a flea market and rebuilt it - all of the electronics were missing except for the pickups. I played it for about a week with that frigging hocky stick head stock and couldnt tune it because the damn pegs were too close together for my shovel hands. Plus the neck sucked anyway.
In the meantime I got a squire strat neck for 10 bucks which was mint.
So I replaced the hockey stick with the squire and now I have a nice guitar.
The hockey stick is sitting there all alone now and will probably stay there in my closet, too homely to be seen by polite company.

Berlinbetty why don't you come up with some nice headstock designs for us to look at? I think it would be alot of fun.
Maybe others too?

One of the few 6-a-side Fender-derivative headstocks I like is the Reverend one:

I seem to remember we had a thread about the origin of the Fender headstock .. traced back to traditional Croatian instruments IIRC.

Well, one thing I'm realizing with this thread is that beauty IS in the eye of the beholder.  Aside from the Reverend in the last post and the Teisco 4+2, I think those other headstocks aren't really that cool looking, personally.  That spacetone seems to be a copy of the Starcaster headstock, no?  And, the Dipinto looks pregnant!  So, it's entirely conjecture.
::)
I'm hard to please, anyway.  I've come up with headstock designs but haven't been happy with any of them.  If I come up with something decent I'll be sure to post it, after I've copyrighted it, naturally!

Ah, the Gretsch TK-300. Mine is transparent cherry red but this natural finish one shows the headstock shape better.

I like the Reverend headstock. It looks like the G&L headstocks with the wave on the side opposite the pegs.

I quite like the way that the "wave" is repeated in the pickguard shape .. I reckon that's thanks to Joe Naylor's industrial design background.

I like most of the Musicman headstocks, actually. Then again I am a bassist..

i like the hagström fender-esque headstocks. they´re not much different than fenders, but they´ve got their own vibe i think.

I think headstocks are dependent on the body of the guitar. I like the Firebird headstocks but only on a firebird.

and I only like the G&L headstocks on the classics (tele copy)

For 3-a-side headstocks, I like the PRS design. I don't care much for anything else about them, and I hate the lurid vomit-maple they use on bodies, but the headstock design looks good.
