who wants to see my new guitar? (you wont like it)
I nabbed a new (old) guitar off ebay, its not here yet, but should be soon. Theres a delay in payment because my paypal account got all crapped up, but I'm borrowing another account..
Its a little beat up by PRS standards, but looks good to me, and now I wont be afraid to take it out places. It even has the rare uproute incase I want to play some meedly meedlies and pull up a step. I wont, but it might be cool for delay pedal induced whale-squeals.
Its funny, looking at PRS stuff, 89 equals "W@w vintage!!!" , but looking at fender stuff, 89 equals, eh, kinda old and used, not the best time period. Its a strange feeling. Id rather have an earlier baby blue or white one with the sweet switch, but I'd also like to have the 5k itd take to get one:) Someday...

Any and all comments are welcomed.

Well, I don't hate it... I'm sure it's a fine guitar... if you like that sort of thing....

Paul Reed Smiths are great guitars. I just looked at the price, and thought that one could just about buy a vintage Jazzmaster for that much...I'm sure the PRS will be absolutely great, though!! Congrats!

That's a cool finish! It reminds me of the old "shrink-wrapped" Nationals!
(It's not shrink-wrapped, is it )

One more guitar, then I'll practice!

Hmm, not sure about the finish ...
I like the look of PRS guitars and I'm sure they play very well, but I have no real desire to own one. Actually, the PRS I most like the look and idea of is one of their cheapest ones, the McCarty soapbar, especially in black .. I'm not really a figured wood/fancy finish kinda guy.

Does that finish have a name? I'd call it Peacock!
What does a "sweet switch" do?

+1! Love the soapbars and plain top! Definitely different for a PRS.mezcalhead wrote: Hmm, not sure about the finish ...

hehehe, yeah, the finish is called Multifoil. Its not shrinkwrapped, it was done somehow with...foil....hahaha, Im not 100 percent certain how its done though. It does look sorta peacocky, now that you mention it.
I couldve gotten a vintage JM for about that price, a refin with a few issues probably. I wasnt really in the frame of mind to mess with that, and a possible refret, etc though. Plus then I'd want to go about putting some real WRHBs in it:)
Black Mccarty soapbars are pretty keen. I also really like the all mahogany satin finished soapbar guitars, very warm and vintagey looking...not entirely crazy about the singlecut stuff though

the only person I can think of to do something good with a PRS was Greg Ginn

I think Johnny Hiland is amazing. He used to play Teles, but somehow got in to PRS...(Warning: Country content!! )JazzBlaster wrote: the only person I can think of to do something good with a PRS was Greg Ginn

Lest we not forget Mr. Santana? I'm not the biggest fan, but I have to respect the guy!

Re: who wants to see my new guitar? (you wont like it)
oh, sorry, I forgot to explain the sweet switch...its a switch instead of a tone knob, works sort of like patching in a 100 foot guitar cable allegedly...rolls of the highs a bit, but not in typical tone knob fashion. I've never used one, and very well may not like it, but the guitars from that time I do like, and I never use the tone knob anyway.
How about the guys from chevelle and collective soul? They did some good stuff on a PRS. Dave Navarro did as well... Anyone like Incubus?

That is one magnificent guitar. I have a soapbarII SE ( a cheap Korean model) and it sounds beautiful.
All the PRS guitars are great, and their tone is superb.

Congrats on the purchase! I am by no means a PRS fan, but if it is what you like, then that's all that matters!!
The finish is the coolest part to me. I dig it a whole lot.
