New guitar: Gretsch 6120!
After daydreaming about them over the past 15 years I finally went for a Gretsch. It's a '04 Japanese Terada-built 6120-1960 reissue (although technically it has '59 specs?). It sounds amazing, very raw but not overpowering, nice and jangly and huge when overdriven. It's very easy to play and I love the neck: ebony fretboard, 24.6"scale, small frets and a slight V-shape in the lower positions.
I'll leave this one stock because I just love it as is. All I did was add two small patches of thin doublesided tape under the bridge foot to prevent the bridge from shifting and a setup with 11-54's and near straight neck. This will probably my main guitar but I won't allow my Jag to gather dust, don't worry

Nice axe! I love that color, too.
I've always wanted a Gretsch. I just can't get past Fenders. Everytime I look at other guitars, I just turn right back.
Maybe it's time for me to branch out......Naaaaah
Good buy, Vinkie!!

It's not about the gear! It's about you, your hands, your imagination, your feelings.

Gretsches are teh coolness, though every one I've ever played has been in need of a serious refret. Congrats.

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

I guess it sounds very huge with the Fuzz Factory .. maybe a bit uncontrolable though

Beautiful!
I was going to buy a Double Anniversary Gretsch awhile back for around 1500 from a friend. It was pretty much untouched! It sounded amazing through my modded muff clone.
Have you played it through that fuzz factory you have there?

Re: New guitar: Gretsch 6120!
Thanks guys!
The Gretsch sounds HUGE overdriven, I use a Z-VEX SD 2-1 booster and it works very well with this guitar. The Filtertrons are not really high output but have a nice and trebly grind. There's not that much sustain but still enough, pretty much like my Jaguar. I love that it's so precise, there's no hiding or margin for error somehow. Play well and you'll hear great things, get something wrong and it will whip you in the face!
The FF is actually very usable with this guitar, both in lower gain settings for garageband '60's sounds and for hi-gain insanity. Manipulating notes with the Bigsby as it's going more and more off track is just too much fun

That is a really nice looking one. I've had a couple old Gretsches, but no longer. I had a '64 Double Anniversary in two tone Cadillac green that I really liked. Someday I plan on buying another.

Yeah man, that thing is sweet!
I love the look and feel of Gretsch, especially those bigsbys, freaking awesome stuff.
I almost bought one of the Corvettes, but, I couldnt find one to test drive.
Coolness.
