Re: post your MONSTER TELES!
got a mexi tele coming to me tonight w/ Fralin blues PU's. stoked. aged (yellowed) Oly White w/ white PG & maple neck.
can anyone point me in the direction of those brass bridges (all brass or even just brass saddles) a la Andy Summers ??
i need a six-saddle bridge (can't do 3).
also, any experience w/ putting a bigsby on a tele ? issues ? fit problems ? model suggestions ?

Re: post your MONSTER TELES!
I don't know if this is a "Monster" Tele, but it's a little different.
This is a partscaster that I've modded this way and that in it's short 4 year life. But I think it's where it's going to stay. It has a Strat neck pickup and regular Tele bridge pup. I added a strangle switch to the pickguard. Which BTW is from Guitar Fetish and is their 64 aged white, which is a perfect natual mint/parchment, although in my pics it's looks like WHITE white... It was bright outside. I also rebeveled the edges to a more vintage degree. I made the body out of Poplar and finished in ReRanches Shoreline Gold. This was actually one of my first decent finishes. Anyway, on with the pics!
This is what it looks like under the hood:

I finally finish building a guitar, go to play it, and then remember, "oh yeah, that's right. I suck at playing... Why did I build another guitar again?"

You will need to either cut string notches out behind the saddles (assuming you're using a regular ashtray) or else shim the neck and raise the saddles HIGH. And the Bigsby B5 was designed for a flat-top solid body like a Tele or LP Junior.preservation wrote:got a mexi tele coming to me tonight w/ Fralin blues PU's. stoked. aged (yellowed) Oly White w/ white PG & maple neck.

Here's one on my Ratocaster with notched bridge plate (which is such a monster tele that it isn't a tele!)
PS - I apologize for polluting this thread with a strat-shaped body. Here's my Lacquer Classic 50's Tele with a Sheptone bridge pup and a Gibby burstbucker set low in the neck. With the selector switch in the middle it sounds beautifully acoustic through the AC30 set clean.

Re: post your MONSTER TELES!
Holy cow, don't apologize. Just today I was thinking how cool it would be to have a strat with an ashtray and a tele pickup...
(Christopher, also)
I've been to one World's Fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing i ever heard come out a pair of headphones.

Re: post your MONSTER TELES!
bringing back this thread because i enjoy looking at modified teles!
...and i have an update on my tele. originally a baja, but now the pickups are changed, it's been refinished (my first) and finally a bigsby (i just installed today).
i have said earlier that tele is perfect as it is and the simplisity would be ruined with a vibrato. i obviously take it back. a tele needs a bigsby

WOW! Love the contrast of that dark, dark board against the beat-up body. One of the coolest guitars I've seen in a while.torchindy wrote:

I've since swapped out the Wilkinson Roller bridge for a Rickenbacker-style floating one, but apart from that, same as she ever was.

Re: post your MONSTER TELES!
So many awesome instruments in here.
Heres my Tele. Began life with me in 2004 as MIM standard, and since its more or less been designated my lifelong companion, i just do whatever to it haha
I recently tried out routing on the pickguard and the body. Functional but not great looking! But now i've got my favorite neck pickup in (JM-V) so its a fair trade off haha
