Jagstang copies and clones

Post by debudavid » Fri Jul 18, 2014 5:40 am

somebody might be interested in knowing these things exist. ;)

i think the more accurate looking red ones are Roxstars and the black one is a Barclay. other than that, i don't know anything about them.

I like the Ric style knobs on the Barclay. Anyone know off the top if theres a way to get these in white?

man i am gassing for one of these so bad right now. not a knock off in particular, just a jagstang in general.

It's funny as i don't even like Nirvana or Cobain in particluar, but there's something about the shape of these which is calling or should i saw screaming my name.

Oooh, I like these. Is it some Japan-only thing?

Googling for "Roxstar guitars" unfortunately brings up a lot of faulty results...

These look more accurate in a way than the actually Fender production version in that they appear to have the belly and arm cut-aways like the original Fender prototype did (and Warmoth's Jag-Stang body).

Ironically the pickguards on these copies line up centered on the bottom wings better than on the actual Fender Jagstangs. ;D

Hehe, cool.

That first one almost looks like it could have been made using the same tooling the official Fenders are, save for the back contour. Maybe that's what Fuji Gen Gakki or Tokai are doing with the original machines used to make the Jag-Stangs these days.

The second one is kind of interesting with that deluxe 2 point tremolo unit.

Or maybe one's a Tokai, the other is a Fuji Gen product.

I'm surprised there never was a Jag-stang re-re-issue for the In Utero anniversary last year.

There's one at a shop near me right now for $25,000 new taiwan dollars (about $800 USD).

The neck is like a dream...

Not sure I like that bridge pup or the body shape though. I have been debating for awhile and no one else has bought it.

I had a first year release lefty Jagstang. Really didn't get on with the body, and was disappointed with the humbucker vs my other guitar. Sold it to a friend for not much money, which she never actually paid me. My friend did always say it was mine when I wanted it back. Problem is, I think it's sitting in an attic in Canada, the girl now lives in Australia, and I'm in UK.
