P-90 routs
do dogears and soapbars require different routs, or are they the same?
don´t worry, i´m not putting P-90s in any of my JMs, i´m thinking of building a warmoth SG jr...

Re: P-90 routs
I think the basic footprint is the same for both the pickups, but I think that dogears require a shallower rout than soapbars.

No, it isn't a P90, nor a P100. It's a single-coil .. a wide-bobbin paragon amongst single-coils.

wide-bobbin - sounds like a name used in a Monty Python sketch.mezcalhead wrote: a wide-bobbin paragon amongst single-coils.

True, but now you're just confusing things.nealescott wrote: and a p-90 is a single coil also.

Re: P-90 routs
The Jazzmaster pickup is a little thinner and wider than a P-90, but the bigger difference is a Jazzmaster pickup uses Rod magnets and the P-90 uses bar magnets and metal poles. The different magnet styles create a different magnetic field which drastically alters the tone.
