Re: Nash JM-63 owners
I was surprised to see Noel Gallagher is playing a Nash Strat and tele now and singing their praises. He is a man with fine taste in guitars regardless of what is thought of his music. Mind you I also use the same luthier/repairman as him and he is a miracle worker in guitars. I have taken some rough old dogs into him over the years and they've come back purring. He's the guy that helped Marr design his Jag.
I've never fancied a Nash as all the ones I've seen have had that butchered look about them. Relic work done after being at the pub... Made by someone who secretly hates guitars... Used as defence weapon in a gladiatorial battle... Ok I've run out.
I'm sure there are examples that don't fit with the above and it'd be nice to see them. Nash are successful, they can't all be dodgy or overdone. I agree with previous poster and would like to see/hear of more happy Nash owners.

Err, anyone can change a few parts on a Jag, or any guitar for that matter. I don't call that "designing".

Seconded. Customised, maybe tuned but never designed.tribi9 wrote:k701 wrote: He's the guy that helped Marr design his Jag.

So much guitar design is just pathetic and derivative cryptozoology anyway. It's a crying shame Fender couldn't copyright the bodies, it might have actually forced some people to get their fuckimg pencils out, instead of just copying.

Re: Nash JM-63 owners
If I'd have said 'customize' his jag or 'change a few parts on his jag', it would more likely read as work done to Marr's personal jag as opposed to the changes that went into the signature model. Now if I'd said 'designing a guitar', it would not be fitting. It's designing a Fender Jaguar within the realms of being a Jag, otherwise it would be called something different. People 'customize' their own guitars, if it is sent over to Fender to be produced, design plans have to be drawn up etc. With this process, that here includes changes made to how the bridge sits, how to trem arm is held- (new parts made) the switching changed; the carve is different (whilst retaining the jag shape obviously)- the word 'design' is perfectly adequate for this signature model.

In that case I designed a Fender Mustang. It looks like every other fucking Mustang in the world, except I put a new pickguard shape and upgraded gold strap pins.

Did you go through a year long multi stage process of revision with detailed attention to all aspects of working parts, improving all classic jag nags, then accurately draw up your plans, send them to Fender to approve and have those designs produced into a successful signature model?
Your ignorance into the work that goes into a signature model like this is embarrassing. Not to mention disrespectful to the efforts that went into it.
I look forward to seeing your school workshop pickguard mustang in the stores. Sounds impressive.

Re: Nash JM-63 owners
Again none of that is designing. Those are well executed customizations to an existing design.
You can argue all you want.

If you think that is not a design process, then maybe you've been inhaling too many pickguard shavings.tribi9 wrote:Again none of that is designing. Those are well executed customizations to an existing design.

Agreed, I always hear good things from sellers about Nash... I'm kinda curious since I had no idea he was putting together warmouth bodies.JKR wrote:Looking forward to seeing those Nash JM pics - guts & all!iainmayfield wrote:Right - give me a day or so - camera and screwdriver at the ready - I will attempt to take some photos and upload! Re: Nash JM-63 owners
I have no idea why someone would buy a Nash in a world where Danocasters exist.
great OSG deals with: ncarey13, skip.
great TGP deals with: drjoel, 12strings, Tim P, angrybandnerd, echobaseone, guitarpkr67, jcampbell331

Re: Nash JM-63 owners
The answer to that is easy - you try buying a Danocaster offset in the uk - I saw one on eBay a round 2 years ago - they're not that easy to come by - whereas there are quite a few Nash guitars over here. I have a Nash 59 P Bass too and its an absolute pleasure to play and sounds great.takeittothemall wrote:I have no idea why someone would buy a Nash in a world where Danocasters exist.

Any progress on the pics Ian?
Agree re Danocaster, they look amazing, but rarer than a 59 in the UK

Exactly. Why anyone would consider Nash over Dan is beyond me.takeittothemall wrote:I have no idea why someone would buy a Nash in a world where Danocasters exist.
