Re: Straps
Not sure if you guys have seen this place http://www.rightonstraps.com/en/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I was in the town where they make the straps and they have a shop. Unfortunately it was August so everything was closed but they looked nice. I have a couple picked out but i'm kinda giving myself a week to see if my taste changes before I order one, or 2

I'm a huge fan of original fuzz out of Nashville.
I haven't found a new photo-hosting site yet since the Photobucket debacle, so I'm sorry I can't post all my wares.

Re: Straps
For the majority of my guitars, price was the biggest factor in choosing. Then a few I have straps that I got to match the finish.
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

Re: Straps
I always look for a match, at least in vibe. I won't have proper pictures for a couple months, but here are a few straps that I have, ready for a few of my projects:
This one will be matched with the strap on the left.
Deed_Poll is making me a humbucker guitar out of his Offset Telecaster shape, that I'm doing in this color and matching with the strap on the right.
I'm also doing my Jaguar Bass in Olympic white with a faded orange Spitfire tort guard, and I'm using this strap:
(I don't have a picture of my actual in-hand strap, just got this on the Souldier site)

Re: Straps
Getting proper straps for things is on the list. I'd like to eventually find proper vintage straps for my old stuff.
If my wife is reading this, this is what I want for Xmas:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/541455998/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I bought two of these guys on ebay for my Silvertones - one in pink with yellow dots and one in brown with aqua dots. Not bad at all for cheapass straps.
https://www.amazon.com/Perris-Leathers- ... 008U1PAXI/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Apparently the last two (or three) numbers (after the FWS20) designate the fabric and there are a shitload of options.

Re: Straps
I know a lot of people like souldier but I think the big ends look stupid next to the ace/bobby lee style patterns and the slick nylon webbing means you're in neckdive city with anything slightly imbalanced.
I prefer the really cheap Ace reissue straps. The weave on the pattern is not nearly as good as souldier or the high-end brands, but the leatherette backing is just grippy enough to make a big difference and the small leather ends look much better than souldier's great big leafy things.

Re: Straps
I love Couch straps. I have about 6 or 7 of them at last count. Most are colour-coordinated "Racer X" straps. Here's a photo stolen from another board member, but I have this exact strap on my TVL (it's a vintage Cadillac vinyl from their hardtops that matches the Oxblood paint perfectly):
I have a red/white one on my Bo Diddley, a blue/white one on my blue Jag, etc, etc.
I also have one of their Artist Series straps that my wife (then my girlfriend) got me after I spent two years hanging out with the pigeons in my local park when I was stuck in downtown Toronto for school (I'm a huge nature guy and those pigeons were the only wildlife for miles...):
Anyway, Couch straps are really well-made, really durable, and leather-free. Haven't bought anything else for years and years at this point.

Re: Straps
I also have a Couch problem...I'm up to 21 now.
Most of them were purchased because they really match a particular guitar, but I can admit that I got a guitar to match one of my Couch straps. Just because!
A couple of examples:

Re: Straps
Love the Couch stuff and I'm due for more. I got the tour the factory in Long Beach because my friend plays with the owner. Super super nice guy and really happy to share what he was doing with everyone. Also got nice factory prices afterwards, so I grabbed a Racer X and a wallet

It ended up suiting my custom Tele better than I could've ever hoped. I think it's the perfect match!
That is beautiful. What kinds of pups are those.

Re: Straps
Thanks. They're fairly new blacktop Filtertrons, probably off one of the Gretsch 5191s that had them as stock.jthomas wrote: That is beautiful. What kinds of pups are those.
Folks tend to switch them out for TV Jones pickups but I think they sound great!

Re: Straps
Bumping an old thread, but I just stumbled on these.

Pretty spendy, but I dig some of them. Sort of the strap equivalent of Michael Spalt's guitars.

Re: Straps
I got both guitar straps this dude on Etsy makes. They are really cool. He mostly makes BDSM stuff, but his guitar straps are killer and not that expensive for leather.
