Re: New Song, New Mix. Can I Get Some Feedback?
I like that song. Very organic and live sounding. That's a good vocalist (you?)!
The drumming struck me as being a little disjointed in parts of the song but maybe that's what you were going for? Also some of the vocals seemed to stick out and/or be buried in parts of the song. Is this your "official" mix or are you still tweaking things?
Alls I can do is give my two cents obviously, so here's what I think...if it were MY track I might do some editing on the drums to get them in the pocket a little more (during the guitar solo they seem to kind of trail away a bit during the double kick thing). Maybe the lead vocal could be a touch louder in the mix and then the added vocal parts could be attenuated to make them sit together a little better (they sound more together in my headphones vs my monitors). And then the low end seems absent and could maybe be a little more present (or maybe it's a little muddy and can be cleaned to make it stand apart more).
I'm hardly an engineer but you might be able to cut some of the low end on the other instruments to make the kick and the bass work together and sound more defined.
Again I think you've got something good here and I like the vibe and all the ideas going on. Ask ten people get ten opinions kind of thing. But good work and I look forward to hearing more! That tune would fit nicely in a post-punk mix on a playlist and is worthy of sharing.

Thanks!
Yeah, this is just a preliminary mix so I'm looking for some constructive feedback. I'll definitely take note of your ideas.
Thanks again!

Re: New Song, New Mix. Can I Get Some Feedback?
I agree that the drums stick out to me. They sit quite forward in the mix at times, but seem like the weakest link in the chain. The actual drum part is fairly technical, but performed loosely in some parts so that the impression is of someone who couldn't quite play what they intended to, as opposed to keeping it simple and loose as a stylistic choice. I definitely pick up on the 60's garage rock influences, but I think it has to go one way (more stripped-down and loose) or the other (keeping it as written but tightening it up and sitting in the pocket more).
I dig the rest though, and don't want to sound too negative.

I would recommend turning the snare down a bit and compress it, but that's just my opinion
