Re: Danocaster - future value???
Hilarious.
Someone please explain in detail hand matched pickups It's done by 'feel' I take it...
PS does anyone know where I can get some Paper-In-Snake-Oil capacitors for my guitars? Preferably hand picked, from a vintage bakelite container by an artisan warehouse employee, at a disused military base in a former Soviet Bloc country. Totally unrelated enquiry of course. Kthx.

Re: Danocaster - future value???
It's explained right on his website:
I often try more than one set of pickups in a guitar - trying to find the best "voice" for each instrument. And I use custom winds by Budz, Jason Lollar, Peter Florance (Voodoo), Peter Leonard, Arcane , Papa George's , Onamac Windery , and Rocketfire. Because the exact same set of pickups can sound quite different in a nearly identical guitar , I find it best for you to tell me the kind tones you’re after and let me find the best set in your guitar.

Re: Danocaster - future value???
I can have just about any guitar I want; money isn't an object, I've owned many vintage Fenders, expensive hand-built pieces like Ronins, etc., and my favorite guitars, the ones I now find myself picking up first and putting down last, are my Danocaster Jaguars (I now have two of them). I know talking about money is douchey, but I'm really just doing that to explain that Danocasters are, for me, the best guitars I've ever played.

That's good to hear. What neck profile are they?blackbox wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2018 7:53 pmI can have just about any guitar I want; money isn't an object, I've owned many vintage Fenders, expensive hand-built pieces like Ronins, etc., and my favorite guitars, the ones I now find myself picking up first and putting down last, are my Danocaster Jaguars (I now have two of them). Both Chunky C, which is the only profile of his that I've tried.

Cool. The only thing that has me concerned without playing them are the 6125 frets.

Fret preference tends to be very personal in my experience, but I think the 6125s are an important part of the Danocaster puzzle.

it's not a perception thing. It's an inexperience thing.
j mascis wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2018 3:59 pmI'm not sure I understand the parts-caster argument. Why does it matter if the body and neck are high quality parts assembled in different locations vs being assembled by a machine in one plant (does Fender even do that, or are they made in different factories?) or by one maker versus two? How does that affect quality negatively. I just don't get it, but maybe it's me. Is this just a perception thing?

Well, they have been going up because of inflation (probably cost of dano's labor and the wood) and demand.

Re: Danocaster - future value???
Well, assuming you have a receipt with unequivocal proof that your sports star did indeed own the guitar it’s unlikely to devalue it, unless he does something terrible to besmirch his name - in which case you don’t mention it.j mascis wrote: ↑Fri May 11, 2018 4:14 pmWell, they have been going up because of inflation (probably cost of dano's labor and the wood) and demand.
Quick question: I bought a Dano last year, and I recognized the name of the seller as someone famous. He is basically a famous (an "all star" caliber athlete who confirmed his identity), Does this add to the value of the guitar?
Doesn't matter much I never plan to sell it. Just a curiosity.
So it will either make no difference, or hopefully a positive difference to the value, how much is anyone’s guess. If a fan really wants to own it, I guess you could make a little bit of money, but I doubt there’s some hard a fast rule that’s going to give you a definite answer. You could see what any other sports memorabilia items for this person are selling for - sports jerseys, autographs etc. and perhaps add that to the base value of the guitar, but unless you find that fan who wants a jazzmaster, I’m not sure how you can make money from the association.

Re: Danocaster - future value???
It seems those of us who said they’d be going up are correct. But why?
Every Dano on reverb is 3.2k or up. Did he up prices or is his wait list long?

Re: Danocaster - future value???
just my opinion, but I'm guessing combination of demand and Dan somewhat underpricing his guitars in the market. People are willing to pay more than what Dan is asking for them, so sellers are stepping into that gap on the resale.

Re: Danocaster - future value???
My take
I actually never intended for them to sell for as much as they’re selling for right now.
BUT:
We have closed all orders indefinitely. We are unbelievably overwhelmed and currently have 2 yrs worth of gtrs to build
So… Because you can’t get them. Some people are willing to pay more to get something that’s currently hard to obtain
And then if/when they trade or sell… They go to recoup their cost and it goes even higher

I figured something had to happen with production because there was a huge spike.
Dan, since you are in the thread: is their a bridge you recommend to replace your mongrel/tele bridge? Looking for something with adjustable saddles to fine tune the intonation.
