Re: sean's build log
ok guys, i got a few projects in while my internet was being installed. so this is going to be a bit of a project infodump.
i got bored one night and repainting the greasy blue jazzmaster special into greasy purple.
in most lights, it's super dark. but in the right light, it's blinding. the plan for this is just stick a bigsby knockoff on there. pickup wise, im not sure. might just be a case of whatever i have laying around.
next. me and my friend who is a big evangelion fan were joking one day "you got the nervstang, it only makes sense to build the seelestang" well i was in a cash converters and they had this little baby for £60. something tells me these wee bastards are going to keep finding their way to me..... like jagmasters.
that's how is was as i got it. it was actually kinda dirty as hell. this time, i got a neck and bridge pickup...... only backwards. not that it matters since they were first to be chucked out. ordered a seelesticker. swapped the pickup from my jagmaster and wired it up.
and here it is with the sticker/wired up. im actually getting the pickguard today (hopefully)
now, that's the 2 small and fairly dull projects out the way. i mentioned a while ago in this thread the lovely miss yuno gasai and that i had a baritone neck laying around from my old baritone strat. well i found a fairly affordable jazzmaster body.
oooh, but wait, those pickup covers....... could this be a sign of things to come?
yup. everyone, meet the yanderemaster. looks cute and sweet, actually going to be a murderous phychopath. since this picture has been taken, i have painted the headstock. in some lights the matte pink looks more peach. in scottish daylight. it's fucking pink as fuck.

Love it! That last one, with the way you describe it, almost reminds me of Kirk's SassMaster (in attitude)

Re: sean's build log
thanks. that guitar is going to be a beast when it wears. its purple over blue over black over blue over butterscotch.
thanks. the sassmaster was such a good build.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 2:33 amLove it! That last one, with the way you describe it, almost reminds me of Kirk's SassMaster (in attitude)
anyway. walked to my friends work to get the pickguard for seelestang. buttoned her up just there. i'm thinking of getting a sticker of rei on the back.... because rei is best girl.
the light in my flat is horrible. i was going to pop outside to get pics..... heard junkies fighting..... NOPE. took this in the close instead.

Re: sean's build log
They both do, but the blue one looks rad Sean! I've always liked how you said that you prefer the bigger pickups closer to the neck. It really does look better.

Re: sean's build log
better bass response. modern music is bass frequencies and guitar is a mid range instrument. so i usually have the humbuckers in the neck for better sustain and more bass. that's one of the ways i feel modern guitar players fail at converting people over to the guitar. because when people think of the electric guitar, they think twangy country or mid range heavy classic rawk. sometime i should really do some recordings of my guitars to give an idea.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 7:17 pmThey both do, but the blue one looks rad Sean! Re: sean's build log
I know exactly what you mean. I personally like a punchier neck pickup, because something modern music in general is bad at is too much bass. If you go to any concert, it's almost always too much bass from the front of house. I can never usually tell what song they're playing until the singing starts. Even in my truck, I have to cut the bass frequencies from the EQ to get it to sound good.

I’m curious if you’ve ever observed a change in tone after adding paint. Or stripping?

A little how? Just curious. More plunky?
I just decided to do a jag build, ordered the neck from Warmouth, and the rest is going on an avri ‘65 that’s getting a new paint job. One paint place wants an extra $150 to strip off the existing poly coat. Seems like that’s worth it?

Re: sean's build log
not much update. got a trem on the way. i found a company that did clones of the locking jm trem but they must have got a order against them. so i just went for a cheepo one. i've also got an idea for a bridge for the purple one. the purple guitar still needs a name ya all.

Re: sean's build log
ok, more an update. it was bothering me that the jaguar had a set of off white saddles and my white jazzmaster (the bunnymaster) didn't.

Re: sean's build log
update on the yanderemaster.
i now have 90% of the parts i need.... YAY.... but thanks to cheap chinese screws, i now have to drill and plug and re-drill the holes. the holes were already drilled to correct size but the screws were so crappy that 3/3 of the ones i used all snapped.
