this picture bothers me on like 100000 levels. the biggest one is he's clearly brought/stole one of the books from a library and not taken off the fucking sticker. seriously. my friend used to work as a librarian and she said book theft was really common.
To be fair to Francis, I own several former library books with tags on them, including the entire Foundation series. I bought them from a library clearance sell I came upon when I was on vacation several years ago. So, it is possible that they were acquired on the up and up.
yeah but that means he left the tags on..... which is equally annoying

I'd ask someone to explain multiscale guitars and what the point is, but I'd probably lose attention immediately.

i had a wanker in a guitar shop try it while i was trying out a jazzmaster. didn't even talk to him. he just came into the booth and started ranting how the jazzmaster is a hipster guitar and if i wanna take my playing seriously, i should play a strandberg.

I'd ask someone to explain multiscale guitars...
Here is my honest assessment:
1) It makes luthiers who make them feel cool and like they tackled something really complicated.
2) It makes guitarists who play them feel superior (which is also to say, they are liked by guitarists who like to feel superior).

I think that is the entire story.

I saw a 12-string bass recently and almost vomited.

Simple answer is you can get the notes and sound of a baritone without resorting to fat fat strings and maintain much of the playability of a standard scale. Personally I do not thick they make much sense for 6 stringers, but they help greatly on 7 and 8s. There may not be an instrument I hate playing more than fan fret instruments.

Could not resist that one.
Logic gates based on billiard-ball computer designs have also been made to operate using live soldier crabs of the species Mictyris guinotae in place of the billiard balls.

In the end a guitar is just a tool to make music with. The specific features of the instrument doesn’t matter to me as a listener. I couldn’t care less if someone plays a multi-scale, nine string, headless ”shredmaster” with scalloped fretboard, active pickups and quilted maple top in a rainbow finish as long as I enjoy their music. And if I don’t like the music, why even bother to begin with?

It has been a good long while since a handmade offset has shown up on Reverb, so we are going to do a
Boutique Feature

Image

Make: Lace (yes, the pickup designer / maker)
Model: Cybercaster
Price: New: ~$1950. Used: ~$700 (so, not great at holding value)
Body Material: Ash
Scale: 25.5
Tremolo: No. Typically have a hardtail Telecaster with humbucker style bridge.
Is the lower waist anywhere near the bridge: No, a bit in front of the bridge pickup.
Good / Ridiculous / Lame: Kind of short and long, but overall I like the design.

Make: Joe Till Guitars
Model: TG-521 no. 3
Price: $2,500 + $100 Shipping
Body Material: Walnut
Scale: 25.5"
Tremolo: No
Is the lower waist anywhere near the bridge: No. The top waist is just moved forward.
Good / Ridiculous / Lame: This one has a beak! But, in the end, it's just a really expensive Seymour Duncan box? I don't get it.

It's the Meteora's sexy older cousin!

I particularly enjoy the different-for-the-sake-of-being-different control plate.
