An idea (Swinger neck)
One of the older fender Starcaster cheapo strats. the headstock is alot like a Swingers just a little smaller. I thought maybe someone might be interested in making a swinger copy... just an idea.
i think the scales are different tho.

The scales are different - 22.5 vs 25.5"
Of course, you can modify the plans to accompany a regular-sized neck....
And while we're at it, if anyone wants tracings of a Swinger, send me a PM. I'd be more than happy to accomidate.

I love these threads! "If only someone in a machine shop somewhere could make us a run of widgets - once we get the widget machined we'll be sorted!"I thought maybe someone might be interested in making a swinger copy...
Yes the cat has opposing thumbs and extra digits.

It's actually quite a bit easier to make a swinger clone than a XII clone. All the parts for a Swinger can be had on ebay, if you're going to make the body and neck yourself.
It was fun making my Swinger copy..

They don't do top routing, which is the major reason I decided to build my Swinger (copy) from scratch.ziess wrote: You guys know that Warmoth basically do a Swinger neck, right?
The neck on my copy is warmoth, tho... gotta love that arrow headstock.
Building that guitar was one of the most fufilling things I've ever done. If you've never built a guitar, I suggest you do; it's very rewarding.
And if anyone wants a tracing of my original swinger, I'd be more than happy to help. Drop me a PM.

Re: An idea (Swinger neck)
So what body would work for a Swinger? And could the Starcaster neck work if you moved the bridge? Given that they are so rare, I thought it would be fun to make one, especially when a Starcaster neck could be had so cheaply. But someone on another board said they were leftover bass bodies or something. I thought they were extra short scale bodies, but that was just a guess.
What's he building in there?

Re: An idea (Swinger neck)
Is there an equivalent in cheap copies or would that be a custom build?

mr m:
(For pure grins and giggles) I have a 24" from shadow's jagmaster...and I have no plans for it, it's only a 21-fret, and will need a custom neck pocket. Also, DDDave is in the process of procuring a proper template for the Swinger...so, he and I are gonna make one...if you were to collaborate, I could easily be coaxed into making two Swingers...

Aug and mr. M:
You know I've got a swinger, right? If you need templates and such..... just ask.
Hell, I could even be convinced to send my swinger off to aug for measurements if maybe I could get a good deal on a copy....
