Gotoh Jazzmaster/Jaguar Tremolo
I checked the search function but it would only tell me about Gotoh Tuners...
Well, what's to say? It's made in Japan, shiny, has the slide lock button and costs about 60 - 80 € new.
Any thoughts or first hand experiences? As good as american Fender units? Or maybe even the same as japanese Fender units (just without the stamp?
A shop in the UK offers these and some other parts I would like to see on my future Partsmaster.
PS: if I can't get my hands on a Staytrem soon (due to their new shipping policy) I'd rather step on the full-Mastery-setup-train - due to cosmetics and positive experiences with the Mastery Bridge I already have on my Jaguar.

Re: Gotoh Jazzmaster/Jaguar Tremolo
Call me cynical, but I'm yet to see any evidence pointing towards that thing being made in Japan by Gotoh or anyone else for that matter: no Gotoh-branded packaging in the photos, no "Japan" stamp on the bottom, and it isn't featured on Gotoh's site.
I'm not saying it isn't what they say it is, mind you, I'd just like to see some proof first.
Emma Music is selling a similar unit under "ABC Parts" label and, interestingly, with the word "Gotoh" in the URL:
https://www.emma-music.com/m/-gotoh,us, ... -010_2.cfm

Re: Gotoh Jazzmaster/Jaguar Tremolo
Perhaps it is an OEM part made by Gotoh then?
An email to Gotoh about it may clear things up.

Re: Gotoh Jazzmaster/Jaguar Tremolo
Assuming it's the same as the Emma Music one it could be an unbranded version of the Fender Japan trem, as it features the distinctive oval collet hole.

But the emma part number is the Allparts trem part number ...kimson wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 12:36 amEmma Music is selling a similar unit under "ABC Parts" label and, interestingly, with the word "Gotoh" in the URL:

Maybe Gotoh just sells the Allparts, or Gotoh makes it for Allparts ?

Re: Gotoh Jazzmaster/Jaguar Tremolo
I sent an email to Gotoh. But a disclamer told me that they won't answer on Saturdays/Sundays. So brace yourselves. I'm excpecting the answer to arrive somewhat Mo-We next week!
Any experiences with the Allparts unit?

They may have changed their supplier, but it used to be that the Allparts version didn't have the lock button. Best await Gotoh's reply. (I admire your optimism, by the way - realistically, your wait could be a bit longer than a couple of days.)MayTheFuzzBeWithYou wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 1:19 amI sent an email to Gotoh. No, I'm sticking to my picture of Japanese people...faking to fall a sleep in the office because working so hard gets rewarded!

Still no lock. The Golden Age version from StewMac has the lock though, for about $5 more. Golden Age tends to do better on fit and finish than Allparts in my experience, both tend to be nothing special but do their jobs satisfactorily. No experience with JM/Jag trem offering from either though.UlricvonCatalyst wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 1:29 amThey may have changed their supplier, but it used to be that the Allparts version didn't have the lock button. Re: Gotoh Jazzmaster/Jaguar Tremolo
Boom! The answer was already in my mailbox at 3 am (it's 10am here in Central Europe right now)
"Dear Markus,
Thanks for your inquiry.
We have never produced a tremolo of Jazzmaster / Jaguar.
Perhaps, We think that it is confused with other companies' products purchased from the same trading company.
Best regards."
So what do I do now? Clarify this with the seller? Ask for even more discount? Or leave my hands off those parts?

I'd just get a Fender Japan trem unit instead. They have the lock button, they cost about the same and any Fender dealer should be able to order you one.

Re: Gotoh Jazzmaster/Jaguar Tremolo
There is a swag of unbranded trems sold by 'name' companies, some of which may be from the same source (?), but whose origins are generally obscure ...
With trem locks ...

https://www.stewmac.com/Hardware_and_Pa ... aster.html
No lock ...

http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/gbri ... ce_jag.htm
https://www.mojotone.com/guitar-parts/t ... olo-Chrome
Similar perhaps to the "Gotoh" JM trem (that isn't) I have also seen a purported "Kluson" trem with no actual branding.
