1958 Gold Jazzmaster
Wanted to share this with you all as I know you’ll appreciate it as much as I do
1958 gold Jazzmaster, recently came out of a collection where it had been since around 1980 - this guitar is one of the Jazzmasters featured in Fender: the Golden Age, if you happen to have seen it.
Stock, original and very gold!! Plays and sounds great, was obviously well loved by the original owner.
The color is a true custom order, similar to shoreline gold but a bit less flat with some subtle metallic flake and more of a copper hue of sorts - the exact color is unknown as it could be anything offered in 1958, and Fender did not do standardized custom colors in the 50s.
Needless to say, rare as hens teeth - possibly 1 of 1 and most-likely the only one you or I will ever see

Oh my. That's about as special a guitar as it gets.

Remarkable.
Just.
What the...
I wasn't even aware anything like this could be true. More pics are definitely needed here.
Where in the spectrum of '58 would this one be from? Late '58? Curious what markings lie under the guard, in the neck pocket and cavities.
This almost looks like the one I've seen in the photos of Luther Perkins at the Fender factory.

What an incredible & rare piece of Fender history.
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Re: 1958 Gold Jazzmaster
It’s an 11-58 neck and the pots date to around the 40th week of ‘58. Guard is signed by Gail.
No way to verify if this is the exact same guitar, but I believe this pic of Luther was taken in June 1959. I’ve talked with a couple of serious collectors including Terry Foster, and the consensus is that this guitar is one of at the most a few ever made or may actually be 1 of 1, but it’s not entirely possible to say. No one currently knows of any other in this color in any collections, apparently. So, really really rare and unique either way, a white whale, so to speak...certainly there were a few other gold JMs from this period but they may not be the same exact color and may not have survived intact.

Insane. Even the neck shim is cool. Congratulations!
