If he doesn't play ball you can open a paypal dispute...………...or if you are happy paying what the seller paid for it then that's another option, tell him to refund the balance.
Or say you want all your money back.

Re: Geniuene 64’ Fiesta Red?
this place is a wonderful community. I hope we can get Johnny his money back. My friend Francesco has confirmed the amount that the previous owner paid, he has kept the bank transfers.
Edit: I believe Francesco's friend bought the guitar as original; found it had been oversprayed with a retouched headstock, got a partial refund, then sold it for what was actually €4400, with an appraisal by Francesco. That's quite a lot of money for a refin; but this is a nice guitar, originally red with overspray and reworked headstock. The overspray, or whatever, is pretty good, hence the paint looks right except it covers dings.
So it would be a pretty wonderful instrument at the original price. But at double... well, that's pretty much fraud. Reverb are looking into it now, obviously the transaction is old, let's hope they can deliver.
It is a warning to everyone, not to be too trusting.

I've seen this add for months on secondhand.be; I thought the seller was opportunistic and unrealistic too ask for such an incredible amount.
Johnny has been too eager to get the guitar of his dreams;I guess it could have happened to many people provided they could afford it.
I hope the seller can't get away with this; it's plain theft.
Great that you found the add Paul.

Impressive detective work. Hope this works out as sellers not being honest and misrepresenting guitars at inflated prices is theft.

Very sad to hear about this, Johnny, but I hope you'll get your money back or choose to stick with a fantastic guitar at a reasonable price. I would go with keeping it. Love the Fiesta reds.
And kudos to Paul-T!

Thanks for everyone’s goodwish. With Paul’s help, I am now working with Reverb custom service to find a solution. But because of the complicated situation, it’s a bit tricky. Will keep you guys updated.
In the mean time, is anyone familiar with the PayPal buyer protection regarding local pickup & multiple payments for one item? Or if you have any previous experiences that successed in getting a refund (whether it’s a guitar or not), please pm me.
Best,
Johnny

Johnny, for this topic, you don't need a forum - you need a lawyer.Johnny wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 6:17 amThanks for everyone’s goodwish. If I'm selling stuff and the buyer wants to collect I insist on cash... as far as I was aware, paypal only considered a tracking number proof of an item being handed over.
Is the second half of the payment automatically scheduled to take place? I'd say you're in quite a strong positiion

Good point. That’s what I was thinking — if he continues to play the ball, I would have to file an “item not received” claim to force a refund. However, I’m a bit worried if reverb messages between me and him can be used as proof for local pickup?mgeek wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 9:37 amIf I'm selling stuff and the buyer wants to collect I insist on cash... as far as I was aware, paypal only considered a tracking number proof of an item being handed over.

As for the second half of the payment, I sent it manually through PayPal. Does it make a difference? Should I claim the two payments separately or should I contact PayPal and let them know they belong to one purchase?

We have already found a hidden detective in this forum. A hidden lawyer might as well be on his way.Paul-T wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 8:42 amJohnny, for this topic, you don't need a forum - you need a lawyer.Johnny wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 6:17 amThanks for everyone’s goodwish.
