awesome ! that guitar is CLEAN. I always thought that blackguards were post '75 thing? I have a '72 and I wish I could afford another 70s JM for alternate tunings, I adore this era of JMs.
Check out my band, The Atavists ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eG-HZtrljMg

Yes, I am still thinking about the different flavour of sound if you compare jazzmasters up to 65 and from 68 to early 70ś. Why do you think there is the difference? I have still feeling that the later cbs ones have more space, and the pre cbs are narrower sound. But exactly, just different flavour, not bad or better.74Offset wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 2:42 pmI'd say that the pickups are higher output overall. It's just a different flavor of the mid-60s stuff...not necessarily better or worse.garyfanclub wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 2:24 pmIt's beautiful, congrats!
Played one of these at CME last year and LOVED it, but not in my price range, unfortunately. Wish I'd been able to compare the pickups to the mid-60s Jazzys they had, but didn't have the time to do it. Would love to hear your thoughts on that if you've got another to compare it to.
Enjoy it!

I've never seen a blackguard on a '73, and I've never seen a tort on a '75, but I've seen both on '74s -- thinking they transitioned mid-year.
