Is Mastery drop in on an American Original
Like the title says I've been reading up on the Mastery website and it states that the bridge includes thimbles. (for the American Original)
Has anyone just dropped in a Mastery or does it really require replacement of the thimbles?

Re: Is Mastery drop in on an American Original
I just contacted them for the same reason, and just purchased mine about an hour ago.
“Hi, yes, you’ll most likely need our thimbles. You can email amanda@masterybridge.com to add them to your order. The bridge works great with the trem, thousands of users of ours do this. Thanks, John”
Why would they sell the bridge separate from the thimbles, if you need the thimbles?

My Mastery bridge dropped in just fine on my AO Jazzmaster. I'd say give it a try before buying the thimbles

I’ve heard awful things about their shipping times, and customer service. I’m in Canada, so it’s gonna take long enough for the bridge itself to get here, and then who knows how long for the thimbles if I needed them.
So I bought them just in case

Because a lot of times you don't need the thimbles. Their specs are derived from US original production guitars, and there have been so many model variants in the past few years that sometimes different sized thimbles are used. I'd say you can probably drop them in, but I'm not positive.Cliffordreid wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 2:25 pmI just contacted them for the same reason, and just purchased mine about an hour ago.

I can't remember where I read it (probably here and there on the forum), but IIRC the general idea is they should drop in on any US-spec thimbles, but if they rattle and you complain about it then he'll shit on you for not buying the thimbles.

Yes, the Mastery will drop right into the American guitars.. while the OEM Fender thimbles are a little larger inside diameter .. it doesn't make a lotta difference..
well I was gonna post a few pix.. I can't figure out how..
we'll see if that works....

Re: Is Mastery drop in on an American Original
I was able to drop it in but even with tightened bridge post screws I had some movement so I took the old ones out (easier than I expected) and with the mastery thimbles it’s a tight fit. My bridge saddles are moving though, but I described that problem in another thread. Is anyone experiencing issues with the mastery on an AO Jazzmaster or Jag?

My Mastery bridge saddles moved when I tremmed. I didn’t like that so I went back to a rocking bridge like the original plan. I quite like the Mastery trem, however.

Yeah man I just removed it too and went back to the floating bridge. I too have the trem and it’s great, really solid feel and smooth action.
