maybe you can find some countersunk screws and get rid of the tape.
the originals would have been riveted.

I've been to one World's Fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing i ever heard come out a pair of headphones.

The screws are actually the countersunk ones you sent me when I bought the pickup. :) But setting action is a little difficult while also getting the strings to clear the pickup and the screws. It's fine for now. I might eventually put some fun little stickers there instead of the tape but it can wait for now.

I just recorded a quick little clip. It's 9 pm here, I live in a condo building, and I'm bloated from Mother's Day dinner, so it's the best I could do! The bum notes are free... :shifty:

As you can probably hear, it's very "poppy" sounding, almost like there's a built in compressor, but still quite Stratty sounding. A little tinny due to brand new strings being used, but I dig it! :-*

that sounds really good.
I could string together a bunch of lame descriptives, but I'm sleepy.

Suffice to say, giant success. ;D

Very excellent turnaround time!! Great playing too Steven!! Better than I am :-/ :D Lovely tone for sure! I bet a pickup like that would sound just wicked in a hollow-body or thinline :? :?

Thanks! I appreciate it. I'll try and do something better eventually and with a better recording setup.

I really love this guitar but I'm starting to feel the itch for a bridge pickup now... BUT WHAT?!

I’ve been really curious about these.

The description doesn’t say how hot they are though.

If I could snag me one of those humbucker-sized Supro pickups, I would... :shifty:

That seriously sounds great, Steven. I love your soulful playing and wish you’d share more of your music, generally speaking.

The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Thanks, Todd! I need to do a better clip. Listening back to it, it sounds really tinny, thin, and quiet. I can do better!

I've considered a Supro Lap Steel pickup in the guitar, but they're really hard to play around and palm muting is quite difficult, for me anyhow. A shame because they sound amazing.

With that said, there always this:

here's mine. It started out as a '91 US Squier. Funny that it is also white. The guard i mentioned is the same as this one, but sans holes.
Image

the pickup is an early Supro. The guitar is wired like an esquire with better cap values in the bass position. I've built a ton of 1-pickup guitars, this is the first one I've been really happy with.
I have it open-tuned, and have been experimenting a little. It's going to be months before everything's healed and working properly...

I'll round up some weird knobs, and see if there's anything you like. Normally, i wouldn't be willing to part with them, but this is a worthy project. ;)

I found these cool burgundy Valco knobs from a vintage radio supply shop. I'm sure i have two more somewhere. There are probably others in my stash...
This is such a beauty - great vibe - cheers!
