And the person who did those Marauders up like that and more importantly have listed them for that price should be thrown in jail it’s just beyond fucking stupid

It's like a 2k visual pun.
All we need is some Marr control plates and it's done.
Weird that Emerald City would sell the hybrid... thing. They usually specialize in the "what would Joe Walsh want to play when he stops by before the gig" level gear. (Not a bad thing, but usually not my budgetary level).

Thing is, away from the insanity of Fender, Gibson etc, that's exactly how it works and some people must still go for the pricier new ones.Mechanical Birds wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 10:48 amBecause if I can look at a 62 Jazzmaster and an AO60s Jazzmaster side by side and the AO60s is $2,000 brand new, it wouldn’t make a lot of sense to own one if you can just get a vintage one, a real one, for the same amount of money.
Recent case in point- the reissued Jansen guitars, which are priced at more than the original sixties models sell for. I seem to remember Harmony stuff etc being similar, and some Hofner gear even, depending on the day

Right? So I wonder, when we hear the stuff about the market slowing down and coming back down to earth, unless a Custom Shop deal with everything you’d ever want comes down to like $800 I don’t see the old ones, regardless of how many are in the market, really ending up becoming attainable.
None of this probably matters because the inevitable ecological collapse will kill us all in no time flat, but you know, the banter is good

Looks pretty damn inevitable at this point...hopefully there'll be a sweet sweet spot where MOST people are dead but there's still some sort of human society, cos that's when we'll be getting the '59 Les Pauls for 12 baked rats and a hand jobMechanical Birds wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 9:11 pm

I spend a lot of time daydreaming about every republican or libertarian or other jagoff political movement apologist getting Leftovers’d to hell so we can just have a society

I read an interesting article on Reverb (I think) on why offsets command so much money and the link was made with it being generational.Mechanical Birds wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 10:48 amSomeone who’s more well-versed in economics - I would love to see some kind of explanation, or projection, if that’s possible. Are $25,000 guitars going to become $10,000 guitars and everybody calls it a win? Or should we expect something a little more substantial that’ll actually affect us in a positive way? Is knowing any of this even remotely possible? Personally I’d love to see the market crash and be able to buy amazing examples of everything I’ve ever wanted for the same price as an American Standard, I just don’t ever see that happening.
So all the guitars the baby boomers saw being played were then bought 30 years later when they had good jobs and rock n roll dreams and this is why Strats and Teles are the most expensive.
Fast forward to the next generation having good jobs and Strats and Teles are too expensive but the Jags and Jazzmasters from the grunge era they grew up in aren't so the demand for this second tier begins.
What happens when the baby boomers sell up I don't know, but with no other iconic eras in music (in terms of artists linked with guitars) since what will the next generation want to buy? Bieber doesn't even play guitar...

Bieber plays guitar! He is actually not the worst player, Google his early videos. It’s just bloated production that made it sound like shit.

Ok this thread has derailed brutally. Post pics.
Of butchered guitars, that is. Not Bieber.
Again: NO BIEBER PICS.

But also he’s popular like solely with pre-middle school girls. Is he even a thing anymore? Pop music is such a weird fucked up thing

Convert that to a Tenor and it’s just fine...
