I'm not sure if this is a popular or unpopular opinion, but that's one of the ugliest finishes any guitar can come in.

To my eyes the main problem with Antigua is the painted pickguard. They do look like shit to start with. Drop in a regular white or black pg instead and it becomes more passable.
Also, when Antigua turns into rotten avocado burst its ugly as hell.

I actually sort of prefer it green-Ish. I’ve seen them green so long, the lighter ones just make me want to adjust the photo’s white balance. My problem with the pickguard is different; I like the fact they duplicated the pattern, but know it will also wear down really quickly given any playtime (I don’t like relics.)

Gimme a nice green one with a black guard on there. Beautiful.

Oh man. I like that they make this as an option, cause variety, but god I think it’s so ugly... I just saw a toronado in Antigua, but that had to be a custom job?
Things are more like they are now, then they ever have been.

Jeez, I guess I must be in the small minority of folks who love Antigua. I also love the mid-60’s Fender target bursts (prefer ‘em to standard 3TSB, in fact), so it ain’t anything new to me. More of them for me
I’m not crazy about the Mustang here but I am pretty seriously into the Jazz Bass. Under a grand USD (before shipping/fees) is pretty damn solid, too.

A black pickguard is, for me, the only choice for antigua guitars and basses.mackerelmint wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 4:10 pmMan, there's no antigua P bass.
Years ago I saw one in a shop, it had yellowed to a lovely shade almost of avocado and had a black pickguard. That thing was sexy. Antigua looks good with black guards, but pretty ooky with the normal ones. Anyway, I wanna antigua PJ with a black guard.

I'm right there with you. Avocado and black, that's the stuff. Though I suspect that a ~*faux woodgrain*~ guard and chrome hardware would be pretty glorious in a retro kitchen kind of way.Maggieo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 9:47 amA black pickguard is, for me, the only choice for antigua guitars and basses.mackerelmint wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 4:10 pmMan, there's no antigua P bass.

Shit, a Bass VI would be perfect for that, you'd get the chrome plates and the 4 switches on there. Ooooooh. Ideas...
