That's in keeping with the transition from the Classic Series to the Vintera Series. Poly to poly. Maybe they'll do nitro versions next year?Great Yawn wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 7:33 amAnd yet these models still have a Polyester finish rather than a Lacquer one.
It's great to see a more affordable vintage style JM though.

The classic series JM was nitro though. But.... I see your point, its kinda brought the classic series JM in line with the classic series Strats and Teles.Maggieo wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 8:11 amThat's in keeping with the transition from the Classic Series to the Vintera Series. To be fair, I don't think they really had a true Classic series Jazzmaster. It was called the "60's Jazzmaster Lacquer" and only released a few years ago after all the other Classic and Classic Player models were released. Not trying to be pedantic - just kinda pointing out that the lacquer version always seemed to exist outside of the Classic series, and the price point reflected that as well. I believe they said that they will be releasing Road Worn and Lacquer options of various guitars as "limited edition" versions though.

Petty first reaction to the name: Vintera sounds like some YA dystopian lite sci-fi series.

I have a feeling Fender just doesn't want to do a machine run on the tremolo units. Everything else should be pretty easy to do in house.

Re: Fender Vintera line?
Maybe this is old news, but I was drooling over... I mean studying a Vintera IBM JM On Reverb, and the tremolo arm has the graceful curve of a vintage Fender or Staytrem. I’m used to seeing the sharp bent angle on new Fenders, at least that is what was on my RWJM before I Staytrem’ed it. Is that something new, or is it maybe common on US made Fenders. I don’t look at those a lot, a little out of my reach right now.

No - it was called the Classic Series 60s Jazzmaster. It had *exactly* the same naming convention as the strats.alexpigment wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 9:23 amTo be fair, I don't think they really had a true Classic series Jazzmaster. As you can see in the Reverb listing, none of the sellers agree what the name is For context, I was going by the official name on the Fender site as well as what Sweetwater and other major sellers called it.gusgorman wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 10:46 pmNo - it was called the Classic Series 60s Jazzmaster. At any rate, my point was specifically about the presence of the word "Lacquer" being in the title itself, which you can see in almost every listing of the guitar. They never had a non-lacquer version to be in line with the rest of the standard (polyurethane) Classic Series guitars. They have that now with the Vintera series.

Maybe they'll only offer nitro/Lacquer finishes in American guitars now

Alan at Fender confirmed that the Road Worn series will still be using lacquer and be released as "limited edition". He was less forthright about the non-relic'd "Lacquer" models returning, but didn't rule it out. Source: I sat through that whole 45 minute video on Andertons a few days ago

Was going to say that it didn't feel that long, but then I remembered that I skipped a fair bit of the jamming.alexpigment wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 11:58 amI sat through that whole 45 minute video on Andertons a few days ago

Yep. Somewhere in that video, Lee asked him about why they kept the 7.25" radius on the guitars, which was my original concern about this series. You can see him bend up a little more than a step on the ~15th fret on the high E string and it chokes out. That's generally where the problem always happens, but I guess it could be mitigated with an expert setup to allow almost a step and a half.

btw, the last thing I want to do is be another internet idiot being picky about nothing and being wrong at the same time, so sorry if I was heading that way!

I'd SO jump on one of those baby blue or fiesta red Tele Customs (look so darn good with mint guard) but they've not got the maple fretboard !!!
