Will, I was just wondering if you had already finished this project - any update would be appreciated :)

After waiting over a month for a clearcoat to harden, I gave up and scraped a bunch of lacquer off. It may be a month or two before I'm ready to put it back together.

After I left it outside trying to get it to dry, some lines showed up - but a little bit of scraping leveled things out.

Amazing transformation. I would love to be able to see the potential in stuff like this.

Here's the thing. I knew this was going to come out perfectly, because I've been following this forum long enough to know that the woodworkers here have seemingly superhuman powers.

And yet I'm still blown away. Magnificent work.

Also, although "Phantom Limb" is a near-perfect name for this thing, considering that it grew the limbs back, this guitar clearly must be forever known as The Salamander. (Btw, I meant to suggest this a few pages back but forgot; I was going to suggest an "amphibious" blue-green finish, and sure enough you read my mind!)

Just saw this one. Great work. However, anyone who made a massacre like that, should be sentenced.

With enough time, anything can be saved - wood is pretty agreeably to being sawed and planed and having new pieces glued on to replace what has been hacked off. It takes quite a bit of time though!

I should be getting the last of the clear shot this weekend, then buff it out in a couple weeks.
