Not just any Jazzmaster on the box there, a Squier VM Special. Weird!
That was such a random transitional model, and they axed it relatively quickly.
My poor college self wanted one so bad at the time until the jmjm came out.

The body of my sunburnt partsmaster is from a VM Special and it occasionally drives me crazy that I have that Strat jackplate on there with nothing attached. It's like my guitar has an exhaust vent or something

Looks great so far!
It's not my project, but personally, you can't go wrong with parchment or some mint guards on gold. It's very classy. It's one of the few that tort doesn't look bad on though.
I've ordered some pickup covers in parchment, so I have a choice between that and white.
I know what you mean about the mint - needs to be a pretty subdued colour.

I was looking for my original inspiration for pairing gold and mint, that I found on here, and haven't been able to find it yet. I'll post it when I do...

I'm not familiar with the various models - how did you know it was a Squier VM Special?

Ah yes - Strat-style jack socket.
What else is special about it?

I may see if the place I'm getting the body/neck has a selection of pickguards and if they can send me pics of each option.

The lack of trem, and the bridge itself is pretty weird. It's a toploading hardtail that's more Danelectro style than Fender. It also had no rhythm circuit and concentric pots for volume and tone.
And I think the sunburst one had a maple fretboard? I can't remember. I used a different neck for mine.

I'll look this weekend for the one that originally inspired me in that combo (I feel it was a modern build, not an actual vintage), but I found this which is also epic:

I think it was from someone here, and I think it was Shoreline Gold with mint. KILLER combo
