This is such a cool thread. Did you ever wind up finishing the Voyager?
This is finished up. I had done a few posts in my
general project thread and kind of forgot to update this one. I've been sitting on the finished pics for a few weeks now, but this seems like a fine time to post them. So...
I was not particularly diligent about spraying clear coats and it had lots of opportunity to cure between coats while hanging in my dilapidated shed. It was even there during our final snow of the season, a heavy spring snow that broke
many branches on my aging trees and left a coat of snow on the body. After all of that, I decided it deserved to come inside and be assembled. There was such a small amount of orange peel in the clear coats, that I elected to skip level sanding and went straight to polishing. It's not a super glossy poly look, but more of an aged nitro sheen and the clear is very thin, so this one will start to age quickly and already has a few dings.
The Surf90s sound much better to me now in a short scale with 1meg pots than they had in a full scale with 500K.
