How much of the Tele *look* are you going for, out of curiosity? My main JM is a Squier Deluxe with a Tele bridge pickup under the pickup cover and a Strat neck pickup under the neck pickup cover. I originally had a Tele neck pickup in it too, but it's now being used as a dummy coil inside the guitar. It operates just like a Tele - one volume, one tone, 3 way switch - but has the standard JM tremolo.
If you're just wanting the Tele sound - minus the snappiness of the hardtail bridge - it seems like a pretty easy approach to just hide the pickups. No routing or pickguard modification necessary. Plus, you have some interesting opportunities for using the rhythm circuit switch (series/parallel, phase, etc).

You should go for broke and throw in a Bigsby plate.

Probably how I'd do it if I ever had a Telemaster. Tele pickups just look wrong to me without the ashtray.
Apparently you can get a 3rd party mounting plate as such but ehhhhhh.
