That's a cool looking unusual guitar! I really like how you disguised the extra tuner holes. That's neat.PorkyPrimeCut wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2019 2:17 amLate 60s Vox Ultrasonic, slightly modified...
Converted to a 6 string, The palm-wah has been removed & the rattly bridge changed to a Bigsby bar bridge.
The last time I posted this at the beginning of the thread the electronics were going through a bit of an overhaul. It's all back together now & works great. I can't believe I almost sold this thing!

Re: show us yer hollow/semi-hollow guitars.
I got this 64 HR-2 yesterday. It sounds ok. I needed to spray the three way switch with contact cleaner. The tuners look cool but are not smooth turners at all. The bridge pickup is cranked up twice as high as the neck but still sounds wimpy without a lot of boost. The bridge bugs me the most because the lower strings want to push the bridge more towards the treble side and then the high strings are too close to the edge of the neck. I can push it back but then the intonation gets a little off and I have to play the wiggle it until it is right game. I hate floating bridges....... I got it just for the knobs and pickups for a different build but I don't like the pickups enough to take this one apart so it will likely be wall art....

I guess if you ever want to reverse it back to 12-stringdom, it won't be very hard, right?

Nope. All the mods are completely reversible & haven't changed the value of the guitarHilarion Lefuneste wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2019 7:07 amI guess if you ever want to reverse it back to 12-stringdom, it won't be very hard, right?

Your ES-225 is lovely. Is that vibrato tailpiece original to the guitar? I've never seen that kind of Bigsby on a ES-225.

Re: show us yer hollow/semi-hollow guitars.
No, it had the standard es-225/es-295 trapeze tailpiece/bridge assembly, as I can see from finish wear were the feet used to be. The previous owner bought the guitar with a trapeze tailpiece and rosewood bridge, and installed this Bigsby B11. I got him from him with both. The original long trapeze has been missing for years.
Currently, I'm looking for an original trapeze, but it will probably take time before I can find one at a decent price. The Bigsby works fine though, and this is by far one of the best playing and sounding guitar I've ever owned.

If the Bigsby works fine, don't mess with it. I think Bigsbys should be mandatory on old hollow body guitars.

I'll still try to find and original tailpiece because I like the feel and sound of a wraparound bridge (basically, that's what the long trapeze is), and get the choice of setups. But yes, the Bigsby works fine and I find that with the current setup, it sounds quite similar to Barrie Cardogan's ES-330
