Am I high or is there a new Troy Van Leeuwen color?

Post by Debaser » Fri Nov 15, 2019 7:44 pm

Excuse me if this has been discussed already. Dead link on the Fender site.

I miss my TVL, what a great guitar. Sold it when I got at TS AV‘65 in OTM. Used the funds to buy a MIJ ‘53 Duo Jet :?

Haven't seen this before and it still shows oxblood on the Canadian site.

I also miss my TVL, it fell victim to a sequence of trade offers that were too good to pass up. But I still prefer the look of the oxblood to this particular colour.

I hope they do what they did with the Marrguar and cycle through different colours, that'd be pretty cool.

It's ok, I couldn't get over having the signature on the back of the headstock from someone I'm not specifically a fan of :fp:

I recall they quietly announced a new copper colour for this at summer namm. Other than a paragraph it was easily missed!

No pics until now!

Here's a big fat picture I got from sussing out Fender's url nomenclature.

I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

Ah see the opposite would be true for me. I love my Cobain Mustang, but I'm also a massive Nirvana fan, so it risks feeling like I'm just pretending to be Kurt rather than having a guitar that's "mine". The fact that it has no signature, and it's the competition blue model that isn't a direct copy of any of his specific guitars helps with that though.

Unless it was an artist I actively disliked, having their signature on it would be no different to playing a Les Paul for me.

That's why I threw my Les Paul into the god damn Mississippi. How high the moon now, motherfucker?
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

What color is that?

And isn't it kind of easy to remove those signatures from the back of a neck? I've read someone basically scrubbed off the 'made in Indonesia of a Squier bass vi' with a micro fiber cloth.
"I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner, now I am the master."

Come on Larry, that's the front of the headstock and you know it. Huge difference.

Same, and the one I had was a fucking awesome player and weighed like, seriously 5 pounds it was crazy. The whole time I had it though it just made me want what would be my actual dream guitar a thousand times worse, like it was a constant reminder of the appointments it lacked, which were the actual appointments that made it appealing to me in the first place.

It was a good one but oh god this one is ugly as sin

But you were OK with the non vintage accurate switching? This isn't a vintage reissue...

Maybe I'm weird here. I think the gold one looks great. It also has more color contrast than the original. I just thought it was overall too dark and maroon (a mint guard would have helped).
