The guitar definitely seems to have been looked after over the years. It's all original (as far as I can tell) apart from the mute foam, the replacement of which itself seems to imply a level of care which you wouldn't expect if it was kicking around various owners.
I wondered whether the original owner passed on and one of their kids simply sold it to the local GC without much thought for what it was or what it was worth - luckily for me, the store didn't seem terribly interested either! I think Jaguars are still seen as a bit oddball and unappealing by some, nobody clearly took five minutes to check some really obvious indicators that it wasn't a reissue.
