Missed this one!

I live in a small town (800 people) in Vermont that has a local landfill. A friend of mine works there on Saturdays...today he told me this story:

"oh", he said, "you'll love this story! A lady came in today and brought in an old guitar...it was beat up and had a hole in it. I was going to just throw it in the garbage...but I put it aside."

I'm quite interested at this point...

"We looked inside it and it said 'Gibson'"

I'm drooling now...

"Well...a guy came in and asked me what I was doing with it"

I hoping he was going to say "I'm saving it to give to my friend!"

"So I gave it to him"

Heart sinks...

The guy got $1k for it.

Funny thing is...my wife was going to go to the landfill that day...but decided not to. I might have had an old Gibson!

As in an acoustic sound hole?

Or a beaver gnawed on an old Melody Maker?

I can't say why, but I understood it to be an acoustic guitar. But the "hole" was referring to damage and not the sound hole.
