New more affordable Fanos in below 1k mark

Post by Kihtaristi » Mon Jan 13, 2020 12:16 am

Fano just launched Omnis models for SP6, GF6, JM6 and also dug the MG6 model out of the vault.

Might be interesting option in below 1k mark. (Solidbodies 849, and Hollowbody 999)

I might be tempted to pick Omnis GF6 at some point.

Sounds pretty good! Those are not bad prices for US made instruments. Or are these from Korea?

I know that they were somewhat ahead of the curve when they first came out, but now that Fender has spent 10 years pushing out a constant stream of "Offset-meets-Gibson", it's hard to get excited about these.

The Alt de Facto JM6s are some of the better JSOs out there.

If the necks are similar on these they could be fun modding platforms, though humbuckers would be better for pickup options.

They for sure are not for all. My best guitar is at the moment Alt de Facto GF6 with JM-style trem and it has made me really like Fanos. I've yet to play not great guitar made by them.

To me, it has been hard to get excited about anything Fender puts out.. JMJM and AVRI 65 Jazzmaster were last things I got excited by them. Only Fender I currently own is CIJ mustang.

Oh, their boutique builds for sure are amazing quality, but with this budget line, I don't see as much to get excited about. In the budget fano/MIM/MIJ Fender price range, I've got three Jaguars with TOMs and Gibson pickups (HB/P90/FB), a hardtail Mustang that came with HBs and a JM with a TOM. Fender has been releasing so many of these that I reached my saturation point personally, picking these up on the used market for great prices.

It's a tight market space they're entering, as Fender has flooded the "three-digit price tag" market with tons of offsets with Gibson hardware and pickups, which is Fano's whole "thing".

I'm digging on Denis Fano's new line of affordable guitars, the Rivolta. And his Novo guitars are amazing.

I hear you. Let's see how this goes and what the quality of these will be. I think that dictates a lot if there's any success with these. If they are good guitars for the money, I'd be tempted to grab GF6 in black or Sonic Blue for alternate tunings guitar.

I don't really care for the Rivoltas but if there was a $1200 Novo J or S, gimme gimme gimme.

I'd bite on a Novo at that price point.

But then, I just got a Rivolta Combinata XVII:

And these are made in the top-tier factory in Seoul.

I'm pretty sure that there won't be cheap Novo because Rivolta kind of is that.

That is the prettiest Rivolta I've ever seen!!
