Hi
I have just brought my bass down from the loft……. it has been there for just over 30 years and it was of some age when it went up there! It is not likely that I am going to start playing again I would like to find out a little more about my once loved Fender Mustang Bass, offset body. I may even consider selling it if it has any value and if not it might at least help someone else to start learning.
The PAT numbers:
2,960,900 3,143,028 2, 573, 254
The plate on the back has 510940
I would appreciate any info any one could offer.
An issue
When I opened the hard case I was dismayed to find the acrylic body has lost its solid black finish and has turned into a smoky grey. Is there a reason for this and perhaps more importantly a remedy?

Take pictures and put them on here. Guitar nerd forums only really get excited when they get to see pictures of things.

The black finishes prone to clouding were used on Fenders in the early 80s/late 70s. The serial on the neck plate ended about ‘77 . Pics would help, but ‘73 - ‘77 is my assumption based on the finish and neck plate. Those later bodies would also likely have CNC rather than pin routing ‘elephant ears’ in the neck pocket, probably has a black pickguard, etc.

According to the serial code guides this should be a 1973-1974 fender bass.
Very cool bass! The finish looks almost green, which is beautiful in it's own way.

Agreed. I think that finish looks great the way it's aged.
People try to replicate that kind of thing all the time but yours is natural. Very nice!

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

That looks sick! Looks like an aged/green'd out Charcoal Frost!
