I bought a “new” bass amp for my birthday. Didn’t need it, already have one pretty similar, but it popped up for a good price and I had to get it.
It’s a Hartke 3500 head, a Crown XLS-1000 stereo power amp, and Hartke XL 4x10 & 1x15 cabs.
I already have a 2515 combo, which is a 2500 with a 15” XL speaker (in New Orleans), and a 1x15 and a 2x10 cab.
The weird thing is that the 15” speaker is a paper cone speaker, not an aluminum XL, like the cabinet says and my other one is. I guess the original XL speaker must have gotten blown, and someone decided to go with this one. I haven’t looked to see what it is yet, but at worst, I can buy a new XL to replace it, but I’m going to see how it sounds first.

Nice, that'll put out some real low end!
I personally like a lot of cabinets with mismatched speakers, so give it a good test run, you might find it sounds great.

Re: New (Old) Amp Day
Oh yeah! I’m sure it will, I’ve been moving stuff around all day to make enough room for it.
It’s, uh, my 3rd full stack - I also have an old SWR Redhead with an 18” SWR Big Ben and a QSC PLX power amp as well. That thing really moves some air.
I’m trying to sell my Acoustic B200H head & Gallien Kruger BLX 4x10, to make some room. And some money back on something that’s really good, but that I haven’t used a lot in a while, and probably won’t use again, anyway.
I'm going to fire it up tomorrow and see how it sounds. I think you’re right, that may make an interesting combination with the paper cone 15, since the 4x10 is all aluminum. Even if it’s not stellar, I can wait a while to swap it out. It’s not like I have a show coming up that I need it ready for...

Oh those Big Bens are fun!
You've got some fun rigs. I've been moving to lighter weight gear over the last few years...I find full stacks are best appreciated when they get to remain stationary, or I guess if you have a roadie. I weigh 150 lbs soaking wet so a full stack outweighs me by up to 2:1 (my friend's SVT and 810 fridge cabinet have to be about 250lbs). They should have weight classes in guitar/bass rigs like they do in sports, putting me up against a full stack is borderline cruel once stairs get involved.

Re: New (Old) Amp Day
I know, they’re heavy as shit and I’m not young anymore. I keep them all on casterboards that are actually made for rack cases, but those work really well, and keep them a bit off of the floor. They mostly only move a few feet, when I’m rearranging.
So far I’m only playing with myself at home, but when I do play bass out, I think I’ll be ready!

Re: New (Old) Amp Day
Thank you!
I’m about to go finish hooking up all the cables and check it out. If it’s like the other 2 amps, I’m thinking that 2 may be too much...for the woofers, anyway.
