This Baroque / Steampunk gold-leafed flying V, reminds me of the palace of Versailles and not in a good way https://www.adverts.ie/electric-guitars ... 0/20457494

The only thing I'm almost digging is the patina on the back of the neck- but they didn't keep the texture as nice on the headstock, etc. The frankenstein-y body mods are particularly crude. With a little more care and some finesse it might actually have turned out cool (enough for what it was aiming for, anyway) but this is a hack-job of a hack-job. First try: swing-and-a-miss.

I can go either way. Most attempts at the aesthetic are poorly executed, which gives the entire thing a bad name. When it's done right, though- I can dig it.

I would've thought this was a popular opinion actually.

nope. at least not in nerd/geek subcultures. i see so many people argue on how great it looks and i'm always like "really?" most the time it seems they spend too much time making it look detailed that you cant tell what the fuck yer looking at. IMHO, it's the geek version of those prints of goth girls looking sad.

Has this here been showed up already?
Which string set you would use for this?
I guess some Fender Custom workers where trapped inside the factory over the weekend with a lot of drugs.

Looks much better than how this CAR gold hardware jag would've looked liked originally.supersonicjazzmaster wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 11:45 pmHas this here been showed up already?

i've said this before but i fucking hate steampunk and it looks like someone played bioshock for 30 weeks straight then noticed a jaguar in the corner.

I hate when people try to make a thing look steampunk. It just always looks like they tip over their parts bin, spray paint it gold and then hot glue that mess on the desired "steampunk" item (clothing/guitar) just to top it off with granddad's pocket watch.s_mcsleazy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2020 4:26 ami've said this before but i fucking hate steampunk and it looks like someone played bioshock for 30 weeks straight then noticed a jaguar in the corner.
I like the idea of exposed machines made out of brass, I guess a bit like those boutique aluminium welded guitars, it just doesn't really work with guitars. I guess a steampunk guitar that is true to the era it's inspired by, would be if you take an old worn archtop and fix it with brass parts. Maybe that would work but that is all, a bit like JJ Cale's Harmony.

Wild Wild West was the pinnacle of steampunk aesthetic. 'Nuff said.

Re: "Why did you do it? Why did you do this thing to me?"
why am i reminded of that kevin smith bit where he was trying to pitch a superman movie and the producer wanted a giant fucking spider. then anyone else he talked to about the producer they asked "did he bring up the giant fucking spider?" then a few years later he's in the cinema watching wild wild west and he see's a giant fucking mechanical spider and stayed to end and it was the same producerearly_onset wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2020 5:05 amWild Wild West was the pinnacle of steampunk aesthetic. I'm pretty sure that termite guitar joke is a copy. No thanks.
As for the steampunk Jag - at least in this case, it looks like the different things seem like they are meant to do stuff. Probably bad stuff, but stuff nonetheless. Might be a bad idea to have flip-up spikes in the strum zone.

I'd guess the spikes are to mute the octave strings, like a rickenbacker 366 (but designed by the accent vibrato folks)will wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2020 7:42 amI'm pretty sure that termite guitar joke is a copy. No thanks.
