I’m pretty sure it is a Wooly Mammoth. Around 11:31 in that Metro video you can see him hit it and walk over to his amp to induce fuzzed out feed back. That and from this crappy screen capture I got this:
Which looks a lot like the Vexter Wooly Mammoth.

The real question is what is he using for his regular OD sound… nothing on the board.

red panda context and red panda particle for sure. I have that red panda context and i love it. He has version 1, not 2. He's running it on gate mode. I use that on my shoegaze stuff to get a weird flutter sound just like he's getting but his is clearer.Marc wrote: ↑Fri Oct 01, 2021 2:51 amHi I am trying to figure out how Brian Case from FACS gets the weird dischordant/reverby/pitch shifted sound he uses on the Present Tense album.
If you go to:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPch5VGPPDE
at 15.02 if you hit pause you can see his pedal board. I can see:
Boss Tuner (easy)
The white double button pedal I think is a Meris Polymoon
Boss Pitch Shifter .... not sure if it's the old Pitch shifter delay from late 80's, a more recent pitch shifter like a PS-5. I don't think it's the new Harmonizer as they sound more mainstream and perfect
Not sure what the other two are (black pedal and silver Zvex shaped case with blue knobs)
Any ideas peeps?
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

True. Can't recall if it's this video but one of em he's playing through some Roland JC (I think it's smaller than a 120 but harder to tell in the pic) but that would have literally no drive to it right? I have seen him use an AC30 in some live videos and that does seem like it would break up at a higher volume.
If he's got that Wooly Mammoth it could drive a really clean amp into an overdrive sound. I don't know if those clean up with volume roll off though. Never used one.

I think I caught a JC120 as well.
It is possible it could be the combination of amp reverb/chorus and the occasional modulation-type pedal, giving him that OD sound. I tend to run quite a lot of amp reverb and even with a single delay hitting it, signal "overloads" and creates a distorted/overdriven type sound. I have one treble-boost style pedal for grit and a SHO for clean boost, and I don't think anyone would describe that sound as "clean".

He’s running a JC-40 in the video that was initially posted and he used the same amp when I saw FACS. At Riot Fest last month.tune_link wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 6:14 amTrue. I thought about the Mammoth clean up but he almost always has a bit of grind on his sound and you can see him kick it on only for those big feedback moments.

Maybe with the verb’d signal or something. I will have to mess with my Context 2 and see if I can replicate something. It seems there’s always some kind of OD/grind going. Nothing crazy, obviously. It’s just not Jazz Chorus clean.parry wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 7:02 amI think I caught a JC120 as well.

No excuse but I did take a stretch away from caring to learn about any new music (yay depression!) but something about the last 16 months I’ve delved back in and picked up on a lot of great stuff. I’m just getting settled in with FACS, Disappears in on my list; Youtube keeps pushing a KEXP session on me after watching the OP FACS video a couple times…

My band is playing with them in December. I’ll try to get the lowdown.

No!
I saw that FACS was skipping TO with Preoccupations/METZ. I didn't realize they were playing with you guys! I was planning a trip to Montreal to catch them, but I feel like I had better get in on this. Thanks!

There's an overhead shot in the video at 16.45 where you get a better look at that pedal.... and it does indeed seem to be a Red Panda Particle 2
I have no doubt you're correct on that one. I am very familiar with RP pedals and they're pretty distinct.

No prob! Just to clarify — it’s the Baby G show we’re on.
