Hell yes dude. If I was more of a car guy (skills-wise), I'd get an old 1957 Bel-Air and convert it to a truck. I saw one online a couple years ago, and haven't been able to get it out of my head since. How sweet would this be?Rgand wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 8:58 pmI've often told my wife if anything ever happend to my truck (new, comfortable, etc.) I'd replace it with a classic one.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 8:20 pmI'd love to have an old truck. That's definitely interesting. How about a Cadillac Mirage, though? They did make about 200 of them. A frind of mine had the last one to roll off the line. Inside the tailgate, all the assembly workers had signed it.

Thanks dude. I don't have it in hand yet. The guy building it is still working on it I believe. Planning on sending it to our Rexter to have it finished, and then I'll start assembling.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 8:20 pmThey really do! I'm dying to get the Bass VI together to see how they sound.
Holy smokes that baritone is so rad. Is it finished yet? Also what constitutes a guitar as baritone?ChristheRat wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 7:36 amAnd finally! My 70's Sci-Fi baritone guitar, based on Deed_Poll's Juniorbird design. Here's a refresher to the color and pickup mock-up I'd made:
I've already got the pickups, the switches, and the knobs too (I think). Dan/Deed_Poll cut the body today, so here's where we're at:
(Not my actual pickguard).
I think there are some variables that make a baritone a baritone, but I've always known them to be tuned half-an-octave below a guitar and half-an-octave above a bass, usually tuned B-b. Think about a 7-string guitar without the high e.
Glad it's not just my ears, or worse, my imaginationRgand wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 7:54 amThat's a good price. I'll look into those. Thanks for the video links. Those tell it. For me, there is a significant, although not gigantic, difference.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 9:37 pmSentell charges pretty reasonable prices too. It was $240 for the set of 3 pickups.
Agreed! When I found that Bare Knuckle offered them (for one specific model they make), I wrote them to see if I could get one for something else, and they said yes. I thought having cream/chrome/cream (with the mounting ring) would look fantastic. I figured it wasn't too much cream (i.e. open humbucker) and neither was it too much chrome (covered humbucker).Rgand wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 7:54 amThat pickup looks great! the white with the punched cover is a good look.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 9:37 pm
In the end, and my indecisive way, I decided on both. I'm hoping it sounds good in any case (still working on this one too).

Back in the day, the short ones with the 327 were called "Cowboy Corvettes" because the engine had 5 main bearings the same as the Corvette engines. AND they were light and fast. Wouldn't want that sitting on my guitar, though.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 9:37 pmI looked up that GM color, and this is what I found:

Re: Shadoweclipse13's New Project Thread!
It's been a while since I've updated this page! A number of the projects I originally posted on the first page have either changed or dropped off completely.
JM-type: I absolutely loved (and still do!) the idea of a Toronado as my JM-type, but as I fell in love with a Squier CV JM, I won't be building one any time soon. I have modded it though, and will add pictures soon.
Bass: It isn't totally finished (not completely happy with a few little things with the electronics), but it will be getting a clearcoat on the body and headstock face (with decal) sometime soon! I might be adding an active EQ circuit too, to make it more like a MusicMan.
Bass VI-type:
With the exception of collecting parts for it, I've had almost no progress on this ever, but I'm getting close. I've had a huge chunk of Ash for it for a while, but no actual progress.
Humbucker-type:
Deed_Poll's Offset Telecaster design (sorry Dan, I forget the model name you gave it). I've finalized a wiring schematic for it, and have all the parts. Dan is making me a new pickguard as I decided to mount the neck pickup to the guard directly, though I still might use a humbucker ring. I've got a Les Trem for it too
Strat-type:
My Strazz body from Deed_Poll needs a little repair because I fucked up. I've been dragging my feet on it because I'm a bit worried that I'll make it worse. While trying to get paint out of body cavities, I cracked the center glue line from the bridge rout and back. I talked to some awesome people around here for ideas and know how I'm gonna do it, but haven't yet. I've got all the hardware and electronics for it, but haven't worked on it in a while.
And I've added a few projects too!
Baritone:
Deed_Poll's Juniorbird design, with a 70s Sci-Fi aesthetic. The body is almost done. I've got pickups and most of the electronics. I'll need another Les Trem for it though. I ordered the neck and tuners for it last week finally.
Slide/Console Steel:
I'll be using that same big chunk of Ash for this too (did I mention that it's big?!) and I've got pickups, tailpiece, and headstock shape template (from George Boards). This one is one I'm really dying to start/finish too. Not sure about what color paint (if any) for the body though. If not, I'll stain the wood. I ordered a fretboard blank for it the other day too.
Noise/Sound Effects Guitar:
I've always had the idea of making a guitar that's made for noise and sound effects. I bought a Telemaster/Jazzcaster template set from Faction Guitars a couple months back. I also just hit him up for a custom tailpiece plate: 12-string hard plate with a spot for a Tele neck pickup for behind-the-bridge stuff. I'd like to get a Sustainiac electronics thing with a Tele bridge pickup, and a JM neck, but I think they usually recommend putting the ebow thing in the neck position. Not sure there, and I'll have to talk to them. BUT having a noise guitar that can do 12-string stuff too, would be really cool I think.
Ibanez GAX70:
My friend's first guitar that I'm still rebuilding. Almost done as I just ordered the pots the other day, which is the last piece that's needed. I just need to wire it up when I comes in, and it will be good to go.
I'll post final schematics, specs, and pictures once the projects are done, or more progress!

Re: Shadoweclipse13's New Project Thread!
Yep! Up to this point I've built a few Warmoth projects and have a few bodies from Deed_Poll (most are still in progress at the moment!), but all have been assembly type builds, where this one will be my first scratch-made body. I've got like 10' of 8/4 Ash (about 10" wide), so I'll be able to make a few bodies with it. For the sake of practice and such, I might start with the console slide.ThePearDream wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 7:32 am

If you've never read Ron Kirn's strat build walkthrough, I'd highly recommend it. I've build maybe two dozen bodies at this point, and I still find great info in it.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 7:47 amYep! I just picked up 8' of 8/4 alder and another 8' of 6/4 walnut that have guitars hiding in them.
