Jumpering channels.....
....anyone doing this with their amps?
I cannot wait to try it out with the Tremolux......I'm so curious as to what it sounds like...
are the claims of more gain, and also more eq options, by mixing the controls of both channels true?

Re: Jumpering channels.....
This works as long as the channels aren't out of phase from one another. For example, my AC30 style head cannot be jumpered. The two channels sort of cancel each other out. On amps it does work on, it'll mainly give you a lot more gain so if you're looking for in amp distortion it's pretty sweet. I get a lot of squealing though when I really jack both channels on my marshall-esque amps.

Re: Jumpering channels.....
I thought most blackface Fenders had out-of-phase channels?
I keep meaning to try to jumper mine anyway (and the brownface TLux) but for some reason it never seems to occur to me while I'm actually playing, only when I'm at work or something.

Re: Jumpering channels.....
the Tremolux can definetely be jumpered from what I've heard...
the early bassmans are also jumperable (I invented a new word!!??)
something about the usualy bass man amps I read that has the channels out of phase....

Re: Jumpering channels.....
i used to do it all the time when i had my '65 bassman. i don´t recall if i could get more gain out of it, but it definitely gave me more EQ options.

Your was the BF version , at least SF, or ,instead, it was the classical tweed bassman?mynameisjonas wrote: i used to do it all the time when i had my '65 bassman. i don´t recall if i could get more gain out of it, but it definitely gave me more EQ options.
I'm interested to build a BF Bassman, if it's possible to jumper the guitar channel with the Bass channel it would be cool...

Re: Jumpering channels.....
hi
I used to jumper my silverface bassman 100 head (bass and normal channels)
it's true it gives you more gain as you are using two preamps together.
I finally stopped using this because sound becomes too punchy for me (before that I never knew there can be too punchy sound ) and with all the treble naturally coming from my guitar my ears were asking me to unplug the bass channel
so if you have guitar with pronounced treble, or you have guitar with relatively high output, or you want mellower sound jumping channels is not for you.
but one of best things about it is volume boost which is great if you have silverface bassman
btw.
I believe that modifications for amps with out of phase channels is not too hard.

Re: Jumpering channels.....
What happens when you jumper an amp that is out of phase?
Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.
