There is nothing on mine to scrape off. It took some filing and some washers on both the roller bracket and the circuit switch, but it went on. I'm having trouble making up my mind about it.

I think it looks great!
I bought one of those GPR guards too. I have a spare Allparts body that I am building up. I just got all of my wiring finished up earlier today. It is going to be black

Thanks for the input guys. It's growing on me and I think it sounds 'better'. I'll clean up the neck pocket a little more, add a washer between the shield and the 3 way switch and be happy.
I'm looking forward to seeing the black one!

GPR. Whether or not they came via Fender Japan, I do not know.
Ok!
Well, I think GPR's are made for AVRI or vintage models? Fender Japan only made gold guards for CIJ / MIJ JMs.
Is yours a Fender Japan guard or something else?

Something else, it is made for AVRI/vintage...
As I wrote in my other posts, I don't know where it is from.

It is IBM. Sadly, it looks like Fender has dropped it on JMs and replaced it with ... nothing.

What? They dropped that colour? Crap! I love that colour. Damn, I was planning on buying a jag in that colour. Sigh...

It's still listed as an option for Jags.

That's unusual that they'd drop a colour on JMs but still offer it on Jags... oh well.
Did you have to drill many holes in the body to fit the pickguard, Soiouz?

I'd say about half of the screw holes were off, but not by much. I also had to enlarge the control cavity a bit just under the toggle switch. Now it fits pretty snugly.

Wow!! Thanks a lot for that info!! That is very good to know!
Well, so I got myself an even better deal than I thought I had!...
After I removed the paint, I thought the graining and the color looked a whole lot like the pics of the Scotland guards I saw on the site...
Well it explains everything!
Maybe Andrew himself could tell us why some were painted!?

i remember him saying something about a few people thinking they were too bright and shiny, so the purpose was to tone it down a bit.

It makes sense, then.. Although it toned down the brightness a whole lot!
Anyway, I'm really happy with how it looks now, and glad to have one of the good ones!
And thanks again for remembering and transmitting this info!!
