Routing needed ? How do you fill up the space between the bigger pickupholes in the jazzmaster and the filtertrons ?

Hey Olle,
I tried this combo, and to tell you the truth I was NOT at all impressed w/ it  at all.

Silver Falcons and Jazzmasters couldn't be more different, though. Pickups only amplify sound, they don't create it. And a solid body Fender is obviously a world away from a semi-hollow (or hollow?) bodies Gretsch, so great sound in one could sound "off" in the other, and vice-versa.

It's hit or miss, with the ultimate judge being your own ears. Curtis said he wasn't impressed, and I put a high degree of value on his professional opinions. But that doesn't mean that person B wouldn't like it, so if you're curious, go for it and report back.

I've never get the chance to play a gretsch but I know that they're sparkly sounding..so 'trons are different in construction from Jazzmaster's but the ending result should be similar..maybe the 'trons with the blade instead of the polepieces could be more interesting..

I owned a Duo jet once and it was nothing like a Jazzmaster a humbucking puckup captures frequency in a different way. Some people just think of pickups in term of output, but there is way more to it than that.

Someone here has a Strat with 3 'trons in it, and he says it sounds great.

Yep - that's me.  It's actually a Hamer Daytona (their way better take on a Strat).  Fantastic clean tones, really clear and sparkly.  Push it, and it overdrives nicely - very Pete Townshendy.
I dig it.
