I don't mean to be an arse, but do you have your left and right muddled?

Big thanks for the info. This can aid people wondering if they need the Japanese sized posts for their Mastery bridge. I'll go measure mine now... ;)

Both the thimbles on my JM(Japanese, serial was sanded off neck before I got it) have a crown diameter of 12.0mm; Consistant with your measurements for the Japanese thimbles. The internal diameter (measured across the top, from inside edge to inside edge) is 8mm.

??? So if the Japanese thimbles are smaller in size, why are the "Import Sized" Posts for the Mastery discribed as being larger ???
Same bridge as above, but with an additional set of larger mounting posts required for some Japanese made instruments.
What is this third thimble size? Can anyone provide an answer? (I'm checking my Mustang to see if it holds the key...)

Mustang (CIJ Competition RI, Serial P088689) thimbles 12.0mm Crown Diameter but a internal diameter of 8.0mm... No help here.
Bridge Posts are 6.5mm for Mustang, 6.0mm for JM meaured across the underside of the post (where the height adjustment screw comes out)

FYI. I recently ordered the Mastery Bridge for my CIJ '66RI JM, and paid the extra for the extra thimbles....turns out they were unnecessary, for me at least...the "made for import" posts were too fat for my guitar. Mine is either an '04 or an '05 (cant exactly recall),
SN: R069591

nice to post this info though!

Would you be willing to take measurements of your thimbles and, if you still have them, both sets of mastery posts? I think that would clear up any confusion I'd have on the subject.

I have a Mastery bridge at home and while the AVRI thimbles is a snug fit, the japanese is not. It tend to rock and move in the japanese one.

Hope that helps.

Japanese thimbles are made by Toyota and suffer from electronic problems causing your brakes to fail. Or so I've heard.

I was going to ask about this in a new thread... the thimbles in my CIJ rock from a vertical position to a very slight angle away from the pick ups.
Is this normal? I thought they should sit in tight.

If you use a Mastery Bridge, it should be tight. If you use a stock bridge, it should rock.
