Re: The Synth Thread...
I know the correct pronunciation, but habit forces me to go back to the old way. That, and the fact that people don't know what you're on about sometimes.
I was all set to sell my Prodigy and get a Phatty, but after a bit of time with it in the shop I decided to keep the Prodigy. I thought the Phatty sounded OK (albeit not as good as the prodigy) but the operating system was terrible, and working the arpeggiator was very counter-intuitive. I just bought a Moog Delay instead!

Has anyone every played a memory moog? If I were ever able to afford a vintage moog, that's the model that intrigues me the most.

In Europe or UK, I never heard anyone say 'mogue' always MOOOOG, until recently I've heard a couple of people say it..usually older modular synth nerd guys..øøøøøøø wrote:how come nobody can seem to pronounce "Moog" right? It rhymes with "Rogue!"
Poor Bob Moog!
But hey you Americans pronounce all our words wrong so it's about time we did it back to you!

Yeh, I've owned one for years. Amazing sound. The most powerful polysynth there is imo.noisepunk wrote:Has anyone every played a memory moog? If I were ever able to afford a vintage moog, that's the model that intrigues me the most.

Yeh I bought mine broken as I have most of my synths...it's only way I can afford them! The memorymoog is capable of so much...from balls out power and punch to super ambient textures..its a ragged organic beast..not refined at all..

Re: The Synth Thread...
A few years ago I nearly snagged a broken Sequential Circuits T-8 at a pawn shop here in town. Only thing wrong with it was it sounded like a ground wire somewhere had come disconnected as it had a hum that was kind of annoying. Other than that it was clean. Argh - still mad at how that all went down.eggwheat wrote:Yeh I bought mine broken as I have most of my synths...it's only way I can afford them! Shame..super cool sounding synth that one. I had a Prophet 600 for a few years, which is it's little brother.

Yes...a great mono synth...super punchy bass, very raw, organic sounding...lots of modulation abilities...great sounding pulse width modulation. Has an arpeggiator and simple sequence built in.Elm wrote:I was wondering if a SC Pro One is cool or not.

It was Vince Clarkes main synth on the Yazoo album 'upstairs at Eric's'..
Build quality is not so good, cheap plastic case with wood sides...also best to get one with the 'J-wire' keyboard..it uses wire contacts to make the notes under the keys..early ones used rubber contact pads which weren't very reliable.
But yes I recommend it..one of the best.

Yeah, I already read about the whacky keyboard and the build quality. I've always wanted an analog synth again, since I sold my Moog prodigy back then.. The Pro one looked pretty similar in its options to me..eggwheat wrote: ...

Re: The Synth Thread...
The Prodigy has that classic Moog tone of course, but the Pro-one has more modulation options..it a bit more complex and as such, capable of more variety of sounds...lots of weird noises etcElm wrote:Yeah, I already read about the whacky keyboard and the build quality.
