Re: neck decorations....
I think the dots and binding is really nice - if it was an option on the AVRI's i'd get it.

Blocks and binding. Dots and binding would be my second option.

Re: neck decorations....
Although I like them all, I still always go back to clay dots - classic, simple, functional.
(Plus according to the amatuer hour experts over at that other site, you can take neck off that JM and put them on your $trat, saving the JM bodies for "firewood". No one will after know about your little headstock reshaping and redecalling experimentation - and who really cares what that 4 on the neck date stamp is for anyway. 2, 4 whatever.... Mojo to die for. Bell like tone. You know the drill)

Re: neck decorations....
ok... if we are talking offsets only (JM, jag, bass VI) then pearl blocks and binding on a RW neck is the way to go.
if it has to be a maple neck on a Jazz bass, then pearl blocks and binding also.
don't mind RW/Dots/binding as a second choice on offsets.
Dots alone (no binding) works for me only with strats

Re: neck decorations....
clay, especially slab board clay!
the only time i like the blocks and binding is on a metallic coloured Jag, say CAR or LPB, then it's just over the top enough to be cool!

Clay/no binding.
I like playing more than looking...
Besides, fret replacement on a bound neck involves a lot more labor.
