Uhuh, thanks man, solid info!SignoftheDragon wrote: I'm sure with a proper setup it could be passable, but MAN that thing sucked. Felt... cheap is the only way to describe it.

I've got a Venus XII in black, real nice condition...I'm inclined to call it a "bit thin" sounding, but it doesn't feel any "cheaper" than any Duo Sonic or early Mustang.
However, it DOES look "cheaper"!

Did you score the Venus from Echo Ranch?
Now that you have the Venus XII, that means you have no need of your surf12, right? Fancy sending her to Utah to join the sisterwives club?

What a great looking guitar. I don't normally like the look of surfcasters very much but the three tone burst and tort guard really does it.
I would love to see a before picture!

Re: 1991 CHARVEL SURFCASTER 12
Good point, and I've got to get into the habit of doing just that, toots...you should have seen it when I painted it the first time. I chose Aquaburst, which looks pretty good on many bodies but just didn't do the Surfcaster any favors. So, I stripped it and redid in in the 3T. I'm happy I did. I've got a Japan Mustang in 3T with a white MOTS pickguard, and it looks pretty nice, but I decided to go with TORT for some contrast.

I really like seeing the red/brown colors come through. that is a beautiful restoration.

THREAD-SURRECTION!
Jingle- have you seen this blog post on the eastwood site? They used some of your photographic work of this guitar for their headline pic.
http://www.myrareguitars.com/12-songs-for-12-strings
Just wondered if you had any contact with them, as they seem to be pretty unscrupulous using internet-scrounged images for their own gain.
(I'm still a bit sore that they used some of my images to market their Surfcaster reissue, just looking for some validation in my lazy outrage)
If enough of us band together, maybe we can pressure them into some free guitars or something!
