Wow...
Very interesting how much that has faded...

See any checking on that TS finish?

Actually no. But the finish is very "sensitive". Its easy to get dings in it. So I guess with the right technique you would get it to check too. Btw: Other OSG members reported less to no fading at all on their thin skins depending on the color option. There's also a thread on that TS fading discussion. If you can't find it, just search my posts ...

Ok, so what did this "gold" 64 Tele start off as?

Hmmm... I was wondering what a non-CAR Fender instrument was doing in your collection... but it IS a CAR!

I wonder how that happened? Was that batch of paint in 1964 more photoreactive or did this guitar see a lot of UV/daylight?

Barry, I have no idea, but what I do know is that there is a 64 Strat in the UK that is an identical match colour / fade wise. It was advertised for sale in London a few years ago, & out of curiosity I went to have a look. Both guitars seem to have come from Texas at some time, so perhaps they sat in the daylight for long periods there? Any US friends here care to comment on that?

The Tele was offerred to me at a good price a long time ago, & here it stays.

Plays / sounds wonderful, one of my favourite Fender guitars.

That tele is nuts, my 1964 CAR jag has no signs of fading whatsoever. Although, I think mine may be lacking a clearcoat.

Not nice! I've never liked finishes that turn this shade.

This Jaguar is now mine. I cleaned it with Virtuoso Premium Cleaner quite a lot. It now looks like this, and I like that very much.
My first Jaguar. And I sound soooo good. Somehow, with a 58 Deluxe via a Marshall and a treble booster I get Page's sound (The Ocean)...
