Re: The hunt for a Jazzmaster case continues.....
I just picked up a brown G&G case for $100 of the 'bay but of course it cost $40 to ship..but then again I didn't pay sales tax so we probably paid pretty much the same in the end.

No international bidders on that one, Todd. So it's no good for Porky in England.

Re: The hunt for a Jazzmaster case continues.....
ahh once again, i shouldn't post responses while at work. i miss important details!
it is a sweet case, though. maybe porky could convince this US seller to help him out-----
myself, i found a great condition 1967 or so case in a Montréal shop (kit's in st-leo)- it had been there for years, unused. tony sold it to me for $150 CDN.
sometimes you find great deals....

Re: The hunt for a Jazzmaster case continues.....
Fuckedy fuck!! I'd pull the trigger straight away if I could make an arrangement with someone stateside.
How much do you reckon it'd cost to post to the UK??
Anyone in the US willing to post it overseas??
Gets down on knees & begs.....
EDIT - Or I could Paypal someone the cost of the case & international postage & they could bid for the case themselves. I've just sent the seller a quesion about International bidders.

That's not too bad.
USPS rates are all over the place at the moment .. the best Doug could do for me on a case he's just sent for my XII was about $70 or so. UPS would run well over $200.
Cases don't weigh much but the size puts them into a higher weight category. Posting a case alone usually costs the same as posting a case with a guitar in it.

Re: The hunt for a Jazzmaster IS NOW OVER......
Well fuck it. I pulled the trigger. It was just too tempting.
It'll be £150 plus what ever I end up paying for Duty/Import Tax. I've asked the guy to declare it for half its value. Risky perhaps but surely a HardCase won't get damaged in transit. Famous last words.
This months gonna be a tight one now although I'll get cash back on the pickguard I'm selling.

The guy who sold me the case is declaring it as a $50 gift. Nice chap. That'll keep the import tax down nicely.
Expect some seriously detailed Jazzmaster porn in the coming weeks. Wooohoooooo!!

Re: The hunt for a Jazzmaster IS NOW OVER......
I just want to bring up again how crazy shipping overseas is and how much that irritates me....take Fed Ex for example. I tried to send something to Canada recently and I got something I think it was in the $50-$70 range by pricing it out on their website. I had all the package's dimensions and weight. I take it into Kinkos and they give me some astronomical quote. I tell them I saw cheaper pricing on the web, they tell me to get that pricing you have to go to an actual Fed Ex location and hand me a pre-printed handout with directions to the nearest one(although Kinko's is a Fed Ex authorized center). Turns out by "Fed Ex location", they mean the "every region has one" central processing center type, not the "there is one in your zip code" type. After braving traffic one day and going all the way in BFE to ship, the Fed Ex location gives me a price only slightly better than the Kinko's location. I ask the lady whats the deal with the cheap quotes on the web and she says, well you have do it online and call in a pickup. Where does the pickup go? To the warehouse directly behind where the lady was standing. How do you get an online account to get that pricing? - you have to set up a business account...how do you set up a business account...well you get the idea. It's a major pain in the ass and there is really no reason why it should be that way in this day and age....
