My Tele project for my 16 year old in the Non-Offset forum got my 13 year old thinking...he wants to build a mustang bass in black and gold. I'm thinking a maple board would look great.
The question is: are there any aftermarket bodies or necks for the Mustang bass? I didn't have any luck checking the usual suspects (Warmoth, USACG, Musikraft).
I'm keeping my eyes open for a used one we can start with, and probably should have bought the one that was on Ebay a few weeks back (black with maple board). It ended up going for less than I thought it would.
