Re: Mercury guitars anyone? (Original Fender Venus?)
The Mercury guitar is my dream guitar. Just knowing that these guitars are going to be created again makes me all tingly inside. I have large hands for a girl and I fell in love with the larger neck the moment I first saw it. I find my Strat more comfortable to play than many of my other guitars because the neck is a bit wider.
I find CL's behavior/thievery reprehensible. How dare she steal that design and pass it off as if she came up with it.
Clickeye: I want a Gold Solid Body Mercury! Mark me down for one please! Please let me know the price point on this, also do you have any idea when you will have your first batch done? Keep us posted; speaking for myself I will be checking back almost daily for news/updates. Someone pinch me, I think I might be dreaming!!!

We made our first order from Stewart-MacDonald guitar supply today! Trying to locate the supplier for the original knobs. Radio Shack no longer carries them. Re-starting has taken longer than we thought due to our shop space not working out. Stay tuned...we have lift off!

Re: Mercury guitars anyone? (Original Fender Venus?)
I remember reading the first post and trying to find information. Then I wrote it off as one of those old, awesome 60s guitars you just won't find.
Just read the whole thread. What a read.
I'm decidedly poor. But I'm going to start pinching pennies and saving up. Don't care if it takes a year. These things are beautiful.
You mentioned going for higher gain pickups. Any chance of going the opposite direction and winding them more like single-coils?

That was my exact same thought when I first read about these guitars. Could never find a lick of info on them anywhere so just assumed they had to be some Japanese off name brand. I was really surprised but very happy to find out they weren't. Even more happy to find out they are once again going to be produced!chacha wrote:I remember reading the first post and trying to find information. I think maybe having pickup choices at some point down the line would be pretty cool though. I'm not a huge fan of high gain pups' but it certainly wouldn't stop me from buying one of these guitars.
Maybe it was covered earlier in the thread and I've forgotten, I have actually been following this for a while now but am really curious; have you considered possibly doing a 12 string model at some point? You have no idea how much I'd be all over that

Re: Mercury guitars anyone? (Original Fender Venus?)
Here is my first revision of the Mercury Logo. The M is bigger and lower because that always bothered me on the original logo. I Changed from all caps "Atlanta" to upper and lower case "Denver Colorado" and added USA since we want it to be known that this is a domestic product. The center will be a fine gold or silver metallic (Depending on the guitar color) with a black outline. The original logo was a heavier silver metallic with no outline and real poor edge definition. Let me know what you guys think before I get samples made.-Tim

Maybe I'm weird, but it bothers me slightly that there's no comma between Denver and Colorado. Other than that I think it looks nice and classy.
