Counting the days...

Post by flatfiver » Fri Oct 20, 2006 7:50 pm

I put in the order for my brand-spanking new AVRI Jazzmaster yesterday!  Woo hoo!  It should be here sometime in November :( but I am getting it for below dealer cost! ;D  (Fender has an awesome once-a-year deal for employees of dealers)

I decided on sunburst (yeah, I know - boring) but can you get any more classic than that?

That's the same way I got my AVRI Jazzmaster.  Like it isn't great enough to work in a guitar shop, lol.  :D

IT'S HERE!!!  IT'S HERE!!!  WOO HOO!!!  :D

I'm shocked - the rep said it would ship in November, knowing Fender I figured the end of November (if not next year).  I don't think I'll be sleeping much tonight!

It plays great, the setup from the factory is actually pretty good, although I haven't been able to go over it with a fine-tooth comb.  I haven't even managed to get it plugged in yet!  :-[

I'll try to get some pictures later, I'm stuck at work until 9:30 or so :-\

I can't wait to get home and do some playing!  :D

Congratulations indeed! It is always really nice when you get caught off guard from an early shipment. That doesn't happen too often. At least not with most things I ever buy  >:(

Tell me about it!  I've been waiting for six months for my CS Bass VI!  Fender fills orders with apparently no regard for "first come first serve."

Oh, and congratulations on your new AVRI flatfiver!  I don't think 3SB is boring at all... just classic.  8)

Congrats!  I played a sunburst AVRI at a store today and my girlfriend kept saying she liked the way it looked way better than a custom color.  It's definitely a great look.

Thanks, everybody!  I was hoping to get some pics this evening, but I wasn't able to borrow my roommate's camera.  Soon!

I'm pleasantly surprised - the pickguard doesn't look as brown as I was expecting it too.  Before I saw it, I was thinking I'd get a replacement from one of the custom companies.

I'm going to live with them a while, but the pickups may eventually go.  I'm thinking Novaks.

excellent news there flatfiver!
when you say the pickguard "doesn't look as brown as I was expecting it to", do you mean it isn't as dark as they have been in the past? and that it has some more reds in?
i must say... i'm a sucker for classic sunburst too!  8)

good news indeed! from that you might assume that fender DO listen to customer feedback from time to time then.  :)
looking forward to seeing the photos!  8)

Depending on the light, the pickguard can look pretty dark and brown or a little lighter with some red in it.

I LOVE the color of the fingerboard!

There's some random flamey-ness on the back of the neck which you can make out a little in the pic.

The alder has some streaks in it which I have mixed feelings about, but they don't bug me when I'm playing.  ;)

I'm loving this guitar - thanks, guys, for all the congrats!  :D

that's a lovely guitar, man - the sunburst is really nice. I like the colour of the tort actually, I was thinking about getting one like that for my OT AVRI JM to replace the mint green one.

I think the alder on my JM is really streaky as well, you can see it rippling a little in the paint if you look closely.
