Ok,
so live I use two microphones. The main one is the basic sm58 or whatever a venue provides, but my own mic i bring is a 50's Aircraft radio microhphone with a 1/4" jack (no xlr) which i run into a distortion pedal then into a direct box or guitar amp.
The only issue is it maintains this loud humming sound regardless of weather or not the distortion pedal is engaged.
It's not really noticeable when the dynamics of our songs are full on, but when we get softer it can be pretty irritating.
It really pisses sound guys off.
I searched around for a standyby/killswitch foot switch/pedal that i could use so the mic is only engaged when i need it, but couldn't really find anything. I know i could always run it through a tuner but that seems a bit unnecessary.
So i was wondering if anyone here is with pedal building skills would be willing to build me something like i described? I don't know much about design or circuitry but the idea seems pretty simple so it couldn't be too hard right? or maybe i'm wrong
either way, please let me know if you'd be interested in helping me out with this! I think it would incredible to explain how I got this hand built off a forum! Just let me know a rough quote of parts and labor!
i would realllyyyy appreciate it!
Can I commision someone to build a pedal for me?

So if I understand you properly, you need a box with a 1/4 mono in and a 1/4 mono out with a foot switch to open and close (turn on and off) the microphone?GHOSTTBLLONDE wrote:Ok,

if so this would be a easy project and you may want to try it your self.. who knows you may end up like building pedals like I do.
If that is not what you are looking after let me know and I can draw something up for you.
you know I was thinking. You could just get a layout of a "stutter" pedals and change it from a momentary switch to a latching and that will work.

Yeah this exactly what I was thinking! How could I make it latch? And you're right, maybe ill give it go. I've always been interested in this stuff and this is probably a good entry level project.selfdestroyer wrote: So if I understand you properly, you need a box with a 1/4 mono in and a 1/4 mono out with a foot switch to open and close (turn on and off) the microphone?

However, I have absolutely no idea where to begin or how to read schematics. Do you reccomend any threads or sites that can explain this? I also have no idea what parts I would need to get or tools to use hahaha.
ENTIRELY new to building

look up daydreamdelay on here--- he can build anything
I'm glad there are a lot of guitar players pursuing technique as diligently as they possibly can, it leaves this whole other area open to people like me.

You just use a latching switch instead of a momentary switch. I'd be happy to knock one together if you don't want to try it yourself.GHOSTTBLLONDE wrote:Yeah this exactly what I was thinking!
