Elvis Presley's Fender XII and weird color Fender's
I feel like I've seen this being discussed somewhere - possibly here. But when I used the search I just get pages of Elvis Costello! So sorry if this has been answered. First, check out the XII Elvis is playing!
And secondly, what color are the other two instruments in those pictures? Looks like a Bass VI in the top picture. Could be a Jaguar... The huge block above the tremolo throws me off though. Looks too big to be a typical Bass VI/Jaguar bridge to me... Color is maybe Firemist Silver? Looks too blue though.
And in the bottom picture - what color is that dudes bass? This one looks like a darker blue version of OTM...

Any thoughts?

I think what you are questioning on the VI's bridge is actually the mute.

I can see that, for some reason it just looks exceptionally big to me. Seems to stand out more, perhaps just an angle... perhaps it's ME.
I'm more interested in the colors of these instruments, was hoping someone had already asked this question so I learn the lore.

I think it sticks out more on a white pickguard. The mute makes it bigger indeed.
I think the Pbass in the second picture is LPB.

Aren't those great pics? I love picking out vintage instruments in old movie clips/stills. My guess is that the Precision bass is a match for the Lake Placid Blue Fender XII, and the Bass VI is Daphne Blue...which if true would be an incredibly rare combination, especially to appear on film!

yes, one inch bridge on the VI with mute makes for a big assembly!
Daphne blue on the VI it seems.
Then LPB on the XII, for sure.
BIG!!!

I'd say
Fender VI is Surf Green
Bass is Foam Green

Here are the guitars in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhSSgWmfFk0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They're more interesting than the tune.

And definitely interesting how the XII is played by the blond girl (25 secs into the tune).
